CCU is top notch service and we were blessed to get James Williams as our loan officer at the Louisville Rd Branch. We were in a tight timeline and James came into the office on his day off (Saturday) just so we could meet to sign papers and keep the process rolling without delay. He is an amazing communicator and kept us up to date on the progress of the loan. Not only would I highly recommend CCU I would recommend reaching out to Mr. Williams. A+++ service.

Commonwealth Credit Union Thinks New Members are Fraudulent. Need some help finding a good bank, below here is my issue. Being a new to town I wanted to find a local place to put money. I had heard that Commonwealth Credit Union was amazing. Last Friday, the 7th about 11am I open up a checking and savings. I deposited cash and also about $300 in a personal check from a Lexington bank. I found out today, even though my personal check had cleared on Monday, July 10th from my bank in Lexington. So today, they tell me I can't have my money from a check that they cashed on Monday until July,18th. That's like 8 days for them to use MY money that I cannot have. They say, every check that I deposit will have a 8 day hold because they just can't trust new members for 30 days. But they did run my credit score when I signed up and it's around 750 to 790 and still no trust in new members for 30 days. WOW! How can you have a relationship with a company that does crap like this and I am so glad I did not put a bunch of money in this account. I have never heard of this insanity, usually it's like a 3 day hold. I even offered to print out a copy of the cleared check and bing it to them and they still said they don't trust customers for 30 days. . Once my check clears on Tuesday I will be closing my account. I am new to credit unions so this non-trust might be the norm, but on the phone they acted like I was a common criminal.. if you know of a good local bank let me know this was just the star of a vacation fund.

Several months ago I decided to change banks. At the High St. CCU I walk into a very large and freezing room. No place to sit so I stood in line. A woman motioned to come to the counter. I told her I wanted to open an account. No howdy welcome to our bank, etc. My I D had expired. I was informed to renew it. Those were about the only words she communicated. She kept the same look on her face. As i was leaving, no good byes, no smiles, no 'hope you come back....." It was like talking to a machine. Cold foyer, cold communication, cold response. O K I won't be back! I got your message.

Don’t use this lender. If you use them and trade/sell your car they will not refund any products (gap). There are other lenders that WILL refund gap and provide the same great rates as this bank. DO NOT USE THEM unless you want to see them eat your $995 Gap cost along with any other products.

I applied for a mortgage online with Commonwealth Credit Union. I received a Mortgage pre-approval from loan officer James Williams. My wife and I found a house we liked and put in an offer that was accepted. The purchase and sales agreement required us to lock in financing within 5 days of the date of the contract. I provided the Purchase and Sales agreement to Mr. Williams, who then requested more financial documentation to process the loan. I provided the requested documentation and reached out to Mr. Williams again for status of the loan and next steps. Mr. Williams then informed me that because of my wife's bankruptcy in 2018 (due to chronic illness) that all the paperwork would need to be resubmitted in my name alone and the process would need to start over. By this time, it was 10 days after the sales and purchase agreement was signed, and the sellers would not wait any longer and put the house back on the market. Not only are my wife and I out $425 dollars for a home inspection, but because the home was for sale by an owner who did not want to pay realtor commissions on the sale, we paid the realtor $1000 out of our own pocket for her help. Jaynel Christensen (VP of Lending at Commonwealth Credit Union) has admitted to the mistake of not catching the bankruptcy at the initial application stage and offered to compensate us for the home inspection but not what we paid the realtor, and suggested we ask for that money back from her. I explained that I was uncomfortable with that, because our realtor had worked for the money in good faith, and the payment to her was not part of any contract that she didn't fulfill. The misconduct was on part of Commonwealth Credit Union, not her. I told Ms. Christensen that I would not accept a partial reimbursement and that they still owe my wife and I $1425.

They do not work with people who need help. They also penalize you for having student loans for a loan application. Use another bank.

Applied for an auto refinance they ran my credit told me I was approved for 100% of the loan. I had to send all my paperwork into them which took them two days to process. They decided they would not cover my whole loan because kbb said my vehicle was a couple thousand under the loan amount. Very disappointed in the misrepresentation of this credit union. Check the third party site kbb before applying here if you don’t want to waste time and money.

Wonderful Credit Union! Large "bank" offerings but with a small town feeling!
