“I've been sitting here for several minutes trying to come up with the right words to express how incredible my first in store experience was in the Woolery. Hopefully this awed approximation does it some justice. Several months ago I decided I wanted to try weaving, which is a craft I've been debating for years, and I ordered an Ashford Ridgid heddle from the Woolery online. It came in less than a week and I've been experimenting with it using the usual cheap acrylic yarns from an average chain craft store. This week I was lucky enough to have a Friday off and jumped at the chance to stop into the store to drool over the yarns and maybe grab some for a treat. After a little walking around I heard a rumor that one of their expert weavers, Amy Judd, was working and I stopped up to ask her a few questions, not only was she more than willing to answer any question but she then walked me through the entire store showing me how different yarns can produce different patterns and various techniques used to accomplish these. She showed me some math formulas she uses to calculate how large of a project you can make with any given skein. She also let me know that the blog on the Woolery site is full of tutorials and how-tos( which I spent several hours reading, watching and implementing once I got home). She spoke to me with kindness and never made me feel uncomfortable or silly for asking even the most basic question. Looking at the woolery's website there are several classes available, I can not recommend them and this store enough. If you get the chance to take a class or even to stop in to look around you will not regret it. I look forward to many years of patronage to come and as many chats with Mrs. Judd as I can get.”
