Penn's Store is an awesome store that feels like stepping back in time. The shelves hold homegrown herbs neatly stacked in old style brown bottles, a sight that makes it look like the original store that Cracker Barrel wants to mimic. It is a General Store that is a beautiful piece of history and the oldest store in America, owned by the Penn family since 1850 and still run by the same family. Located in Gravel Switch, KY, it overlooks the creek at Penn Hole, another beautiful attraction. The owner is pleasant, informative, hospitable and kindly explains the history in an easy‑to‑understand manner. Visitors find cool items and delicious candy, local goods and nostalgic treasures. It is only open on Saturday and Sunday, so a weekend drive is worth it to spend a little or leave a donation, sit on the front porch and chat with a local. Penn's Store preserves tradition and offers a unique shopping experience for all.
Everyone must visit this store at least one time. As you walk in the door you will go back in time over 100 years. Great goodies and merchandise. We lived it.
