My family loves this place! There's so much in this store that one could spend hours in it -- and we often do. There's books (obvi), clothing, an entire floor dedicated to kids, gifts galore, and a quaint little eatery with a bar for those morning bloody Marys and afternoon pick-me-ups while shopping. The staff are delightful and very friendly. They seem to really like their jobs, which is unusual these days. If you haven't visited this store, you're missing out on some wonderful, unique items.

A fun place for any bookworm to spend an hour or two! We enjoyed the multiple lounge areas, easy to navigate sections (great signage), and overall ambiance of the place.

This is the loveliest bookstore I've ever been to, with a great selection and helpful staff to boot! Go a bit before lunch, pick out a new book (or three) and have lunch at the little attached bistro overlooking a water feature. It's the perfect book lover's lunch spot.

Best local bookstore!!! I attended Kentucky Book Festival and they had 150+ authors there signing their books.Great place to bring kids, the children's section is downstairs and one of the best I've seen.Don't forget to check out the staff selection bookshelf, where they have a comment card with reason they like book. There is also a cafe if you wanna grab something to eat. The staff is always friendly and will point you in the right direction when you ask about a book.

Ironically, considering it’s probably the biggest bookstore in the state by square footage, it’s not a bookstore at all — it’s a glorified gift shop. As you can see in the photos here, they have more nonsense like board games and home décor items than books. Their selection of books actually worth buying and reading —that is, sans paper-waste like self-help and coffee-table books—would fit in a 1,000-square-foot building. My personal home library probably has a wider selection. If you’re actually looking to buy a book instead of a novelty gift, go somewhere like Black Swan Books or Barnes & Noble.

The most beautiful bookstore I've been to. There's a restaurant attached and tables and chairs where you can sit and read your new purchase.Staff are very friendly .Support this local bookstore! These types of places are treasures we are sadly loosing.Plenty of times besides books here.Whiskey glasses, china, clothes, trinkets are everywhere.

I hadn’t been here in a few years so I was curious to see what had changed. The good news is - very little! My grandson had a great time in the kids section that occupies the whole bottom floor, and he, his mom and dad and I enjoyed the drinks and desserts in the restaurant upstairs. I won’t stay away so long after this.

A book lovers dream here in Lexington. The bookstore offers a wide variety of books for all ages a special section for young children, local products, and cozy sitting. The bookstore is 2 stories with access to a bistro and Palmers restaurant. There are also nice views from the 2nd story to the pond. The store is always clean, prices are market average for books, and the staff is super friendly. You can find that Birthday or Christmas gift that you are looking for. They have more than books here and it's all with a smile.

1. we hate the anti-homeless architecture outside (the loud whining that makes walking in a nightmare) 2. THIS IS NOT AN INDEPENDENT BOOK STORE. they market themselves as one, but they are not. (still better than buying from Amazon though.)HOWEVER- the atmosphere in here is amazing. They are so LGBTQ friendly - it feels like every shelf has something LGBTQ on it. Their author events and festivals are one of the best parts of going here, and they always have a great selection. Its a great place to browse all kinds of books. Though Joseph-Beth is not the ideal book shop, it is still my favorite place for a first date.
