About Lexington Humane Society
Lexington Humane Society (LHS) is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1889 that relies solely on private donations, grants, and community support. As the largest pet adoption agency in Central Kentucky, LHS educates the community on responsible pet care and the compassionate treatment of all animals, and offers low-cost spay/neuter services for qualifying families. The organization is praised for its excellent pet adoption program, with reviewers sharing positive experiences fostering and adopting loving pets through LHS. The staff is described as kind, helpful, and accommodating, even going above and beyond to ensure a smooth experience for families, including providing a quiet space for a child with special needs. While the facility may have some issues with odor, the cages are reported to be clean, and the animals well-cared for. Visitors especially enjoy the cat sunroom, which is filled with toys, and the private meet rooms where potential adopters can spend time with the cats. Overall, the Lexington Humane Society is described as a worthwhile and important organization that provides loving homes for stray and unwanted pets through its adoption services and community outreach.

I was delivering empty prescription bottles to the donations box at the Adoption Center, Building D. Easy to find, quick in and out.
