Muth's candy is the very best candy in the world in my opinion! Their chocolate is to die for! You can't go wrong with anything at all that you get because it's all delicious. I love their double dipped chocolate malted milk balls, but my absolute favorite is something you can only get here and nowhere else. They are called Modjeskas and they are the best piece of chocolate heaven. They are marshmallows covered in caramel and dipped in chocolate. The candy recipe was a gift to the Muths from a candy maker who came to America in the 1800's. The story is on their website and a very interesting read. You can't get Modjeskas anywhere else. You MUST try them. They opened in 1921 and my dad started getting candy for Valentines day for us kids since the 1950's and my siblings and I have continued the tradition. They are the very best there is. Try it for yourself, soon!Parking: It is sometimes difficult to find a place to park but it is free to park on the street.

Stumbled across Muth's just googling places that have chocolate creams. They shipped them to me in New Hampshire! Wonderful chocolates! I treated myself for Valentine's Day and couldn't be happier !

I remember as a kid always getting Easter baskets with candy from a place called Muth's. I would always hear the stories from my mom how her family would go visit and stock up. This place is nearing the century mark, if it hasn't already. Thankfully, I have been able to make visits of my own to check it out, and I am so glad to see that it seems like it was as when my mom would speak of it. Muth's is a local legend, which has with stood the test of time. I love the sign they have out front- letting people know this is the OG chocolate slinger around town. It was even nice to see on my last visit, seeing a foodie tour coming in and learning about it- I even learned a few things myself. I would say if you have never been, my mom could show you the ropes- as on the last visit it warmed my heart to see her acting like what I presume she would have as a kid- grabbing a carboard box, going behind the counters, and filling up on whatever she pleased. So yes, this place is a little different- you actually do go behind the counters and for the most part, you help yourself. They specialize in chocolate and modjesksas (which you will see are popular in the louisville area)- a caramel and marshmellow treat. However, they do have other candies like gummies and jellies- and even a few third party treats as well. Needless to say, its like a kids dream come true- and a great place for boomers to bring back memories of the "good ol days". Whenever I am in town, I do my best to make a visit here (the hours are on the shorter side so make sure you check them before you pay a visit) and try to stock up on the goods. Even if you don't buy anything, it is always worth a visit if you are in downtown louisville- lots of history here for sure. They do offer online ordering now as well, which comes through in the clutch especially around Easter and St Nicks time. Man, just writing this review makes me want to drive up there in the cold and visit! If you are a local and haven't been, you need to check it out. If you are visiting, you need to check it out- not to be missed!

A local Louisville landmark. From another era, walk in and breathe in the sensuous aromas of legendary candy making. Modjeska are the signature treat. Order early before they are all gone.Kid-friendliness: Lots of candy for stocking stuffers.

Was on a business trip and stopped in to pick up something for my family back home. The guy working the counter was very friendly and helped with some spot-on suggestions for items for each person. Pick up some turtles for myself. I have to say they had to be the best I have ever had in my life. Everything I picked up was fantastic and second to none. If you are not able to make it there in person, you are not out of luck. They have online ordering and personal have placed orders. The one time that an item was sold out that I had ordered, they made me an offer that was more than generous to compensate me for an error that was not even theirs. So if you want service and quality candy that can not be beat, look no further then Muth's Candies !!!
