I have visited Paul Paletti's Gallery twice during trips from St. Paul to see a friend in Frankfort. Once for Michael Kenna's and once for Peter Dusek's exhibition. Both were excellent. The special added bonus was getting to wander about the office and see so many classic photographs by the masters. Each time Paul came out of his office to greet us and chat for a bit. Louisville is blessed to have this gallery and its gracious host in its presence.

Paul has been a huge supporter of photographic artists and the photographic arts for many years. His Gallery reflects not only his great taste, but the diversity of artists that he collects. Do yourself a favor and check it out when in town.

My neighborhood, NULU, is a haven for artists and galleries. One of the most impressive galleries you will ever visit is the Law Firm of Sturm Paletti and Wilson. Mr. Paul Paletti has transformed their law offices into an amazing gallery of his collection of photography. Mr. Paletti is a very nice man and will gladly take time to guide you on a tour of the gallery that adorn the walls of the office. He hosts exhibitions of many artists as well. It is very informative to talk to these artists and get the feel for what they were trying to communicate first hand. He has several breathtaking Ansel Adams photos of the American West, particularly of Yosemite-ones that you have seen in books or in national art galleries in major museums. In the conference room you will see rare photos of Greta Garbo, Johnny Weismuller, Jane Russell and several other famous movie stars of the past. My personal favorite of the gallery is a photo of the great statesman Prime Minister Winston Churchill, glaring into the camera as if he is about to give one of his rousing and emotional speeches. There is a narrative penned by the author of the photo on how he was able to coax Mr. Churchill into posing for the photo (Mr. Churchill abhorred having his picture taken, so this is indeed a rare photo to behold). There are several rooms full of photographs that cannot be displayed, due to their rare nature and the sheer volume of them. Mr. Paletti has generously allowed the public to view this one of a kind collection, that in all honesty, should be displayed in any of the largest museums of the nation. Thank you Mr. Paletti for allowing us the opportunity to view your Gallery.

There was so much to see here, and I didn't see all of it. Most of what was displayed here was art in the form of photographs. There were rooms just full of prints, that you couldn't even look at. It is my understanding that everything there is part of a private collection and most of it is for sale. Honestly, photography is not my favorite form of art but this collection was incredibly impressive.

This place is HELLA impressive! We stopped in and got to peek at the vast amount of gorgeous and notable photography. There is one room stuffed to the gills, it seems, with all of the art and prints and photographs that *aren't* on display. And just...wow. The volume alone could blow you away, but the pedigree of what is there is also enticing! It's really difficult to properly put in to words just how cool this gallery/law office and the accompanying collection are. All I can say is any chance you get to visit the gallery, DO IT.

As always, Paul's selection of photography on display is like getting to look behind the curtain; they are special images with great stories.

If you are ever in my NuLu neighborhood and have the opportunity to see the Paul Paletti Gallery DO NOT MISS IT! Mr. Paletti has an amazing collection of photography tucked inside his law office. He hosts exhibits and has numerous examples of famous and historic photographs. This is a collection which looks like it has taken a lifetime to collect and I feel very lucky to be able to pop in and see a new exhibit or new addition to his gallery. If you have any interest at all in photography this gallery will be a real treat to visit.

Is it a law firm or an art gallery? Try both! I did not find out if they specialize in representing art deals or just had an appreciation for fine photography but you won't find a better collection anywhere in town. In fact, if you love photography and even a little bit you'll be surprised at the size of this collection, the many famous originals, and the piles of images not on display. Going here feels like a set for a new TV drama, legal experts by day fine photographers on the side with a touch of southern charm. I'm the curious type and knew there was ain interesting story going on here. Ask to explore the offices the art is everywhere, many originals , lots for sale. If you take the time they will tell you the stories behind the images. You will recognize a lot of these from the covers of famous magazines, news, museums and Hollywood. There are a lot of artistic nudes and some more erotic like Helmet Newton so be advised if bringing kids or adults sensitive to that. Come and check this place out, be amazed to see images you know from National Geographic, Time and other places, see great local work too, and take some time to ask for some guidance and enjoy the history and stories. I can't wait to go back! Oh and I think it's free, I'm not sure if they take donations but most of the prints seem to be for sale but far out of my price range to buy.
