I've been coming here for my comics and collectibles since I was a kid and I have never felt more accepted in a shop like this!

This type of store is dangerous for me. There's just so much cool stuff here. You don't need any of it, but it's still great. A terrific selection.

Smaller store filled to the top, CDs and old or new records, movies and collectible action figures everywhere. Better to park in the back, limited streetside front spots.

Very cool, good variety of vinyl, if weird unheard of black metal bands are your thing look here!

This is an interesting store. The workers knew the products. I was able to sell a few things to them at a fair price.

Great selection on comics, vinyl records, toys and card games. Also offer pretty fair prices for selling random things associated with what I stated above.

Amazing shop with a local feel. All are welcome and it's been my go to since I was around 10 years old.

I've been going to this store for at least 40 years. When I was a boy, my mother would occasionally take me out of school to drive the 90-mile trip to Louisville to go used book shopping. We would always hit up Twice Told Books and the Great Escape. What I loved back then about TGE was the extensive used paperback and RPG section. Sadly, those sections are tiny compared to the glory days of the 80s, but there is still a lot to love there. Used LPs and comic books are in abundance, and there is a decent assortment of vintage toys and action figures. The ambiance is rather hole-in-the-wall, but that is my preference over a more modern, streamlined experience. In a world of flash and glitz, The Great Escape remains an authentic comic shop; in fact, it is a bit of a time warp where, if you don't focus too hard, you can almost transport yourself back to a simpler time, an analog time free from the oversaturation of stimuli that typifies our modern mileu.

Love this Louisville landmark. My teenage son and I have son and mom days where we pick out stickers, comic books, art work, ... such a cool place to visit!

Upgraded review to FIVE stars!!! Staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, prices are always good and there are a TON of knick knacks, pop culture, vinyl records, cassettes, video games, Blu-rays and DVD's, posters, COMICS, dungeons and dragons, action figures etc etc etc.Buy sell or trade too! If you haven't been in then you really are missing out on one of Louisville's best retail stores to browse and pickup some awesome bargains.

Amazing little shop! Always an interesting selection of vintage and new toys. They don't have the biggest selection but they always have cool stuff and the staff is very welcoming. I make the drive from Lexington a few times a year just to visit this shop.

Comic book pricing is all over the place. Multiple copies of the same book with drastically different pricing. I understand grading makes a difference on comics but clearly over priced compared to other shops
