Planned on staying 2 nights. Only stayed one. No Internet or TV. Went to the desk and was told no one was working who could help us. When you can't check in until 4. You would think they would have someone available to make sure everyone's rooms are in working order. Won't be back.

Rooms: The vallas had two rooms with two queen bedrooms in each room and two bathrooms with one attached to one of the bedroom.

We have camped here for the last 3 years, and it's always clean and we enjoy going to the beach.

Didn't see any rooms so can't speak on them, but the staff seemed kind of like it was a bother for me to be there. Location is beautiful though, and looks like most rooms have a lake view.

Barren river lake was beautiful and I would absolutely stay here again! It's so nice to have a restaurant, bar, lake, and beach all within walking distance of your hotel room. Hotel also had a stunning view (at least from our room- I don't think all rooms have a water view). I am only removing 1 star because the lodge rooms really should have a refrigerator and microwave and a larger TV. I had lots of food left from dinner I couldn't keep because no fridge. And winding down for the day is harder with a 19 inch TV. A staff member told me they lack refrigerators because of outdated electricity. I say lobby the state for some funding to update the electrical and make barren river the best state resort park in KY!!

A great place. Restaurant had good home cooking and the bar was a great hang out after dinner.

This place has really gone down hill.
The pools are always under construction.
The restaurant has gotten horrible.
Everything on the salad bar was wilted or slimy. The servers act like the don't care if anyone is there or not. And the new restaurant manager doesn't have a clue on anything. I live 3 miles from there and have talked to the managmement about all of this .
And it's just gotten worse.
No one cares there.
So whatever you do.
Stay away.
But. That's just my experiences for the last 4 times hoping it will change for the better each time.
And it has. For the worst.
So sad to see all the funding they get from the tax payers and tourism just gone to waste.

The walking trails are peaceful. Food is good. And plenty of room to launch a boat.
