Horrible!! We had to cancel 2 surrender appointments because we thought we found forever homes for our kittens(we got stood up both times). On our third attempt to make an appointment the lady ( who can learn some manners) told me this would be the last time they take cats from us because we made too many appointments. Um what??? Sorry we tried to find good homes for them before we took them to a sad shelter. They acted as if we gave up cats all three appointments! The day we did surrender them was horrible the staff didn't even seem like they wanted to be there and before we left, literally walking towards the door she tells us again that we can never drop off a cat again. Just because I made three appointments?! Crazy.

We are seniors in age went to Campbell County shelter looking for an older dog to adopt. We were told , "no you can't see them " ,we will sit down and interview YOU to decide which dogs to bring out. We don't want to excite the dogs. Sadly , we left because they wouldn't give the dogs a chance of a good home and future to share with..

This agency is ridiculous. They care too much about their policies and not helping out animals. They'd rather let animals rot in a house were abandoned than go rescue them. Let's follow a 7 day policy and let these cats starve to death and die of heat stroke.... thanks for doing nothing. You guys should reevaluate your job choices into something that requires no empathy.

I've adopted many animals from this shelter. They have always been very nice and helpful. They also do everything they can possibly do to keep from having to Euthanaize.any of the animals.

My son adopted a dog they had for two weeks that turned out to have such severe abandonment issues that she would become destructive and psychotic if left for more than 20 minutes. We tried everything trying to settle this dog but the nicer we were, the worse she got. In the end she managed to chew through wire cages and damage an entire room with her head stuck out of the cage (not caught in it, but bit through the metal). We were told that we didn’t do enough and recommended therapy and a “stronger cage” after she literally ate 1/3 of a 9x13 rug. We asked to return it but we’re told we had to wait two weeks to schedule it and criticized for not calling them about the problem (like they would have had a solution) and then hung up on after she accused me of trying to “dump” the dog. Finally I was able to reach the director and they moved it up but I still had a psychotic animal in my home for 72 more hours so they had room for more possible strays. Makes zero sense.Just avoid this place. They chip the dog to you so you’re responsible for it until they take it back, if ever.

Don't EVER adopt from this location. My son adopted a dog from this place and it turned out to have severe mental issues. When he took her back they told him he has to schedule a return in TWO WEEKS! Two weeks with a dog we've had to move at least once to be away from children. Fortunately I got to finally speak with the director and I have to bring her in in three days instead of two weeks but I will still have a psychotic mentally damaged dog in my home for 72 more hours because Campbell county cannot take her so they have room for animals they find on the street. Makes a lot of sense right? Not. Just avoid animal shelters because it's not only a bad gamble, it's a nightmare if it doesn't work out because they chip the dog to you until you have paperwork to show it isn't yours anymore.

We tried to take our cats here because our county's shelter has a rough reputation. They denied us because we weren't from Campbell County, which is fine. But lady at front desk was incredibly rude. There is absolutely no need to be that impertinent.

just trying to find a stray cat a home, and said “just put it back where you found it”. Rude service.

I got my Silas today! They were very knowledgeable on him. He is at ease with me tonight. Big cuddle bug. The extras I got made it an easy transition he loves the blanket the shelter gave. The associates at the shelter really care about their animals.

I do volunteer service on Saturdays and every staff member there is so helpful! They are willing to answer every question I have with out judging. Teach me about animal safety and how to read animals emotions/pain & how to treat their health. They treat all the animals with respect, just like they are their own an spoil them. Also take extra time to work on training with them getting adopted out. They always keep the shelter clean and sanitized! I've really enjoyed my time there!
