I have been here only a couple times. I enjoyed the free samples of pulled cream--they were melt in your mouth, delicious. I've gotten bourbon balls as well to take to my friends in Indiana. They were strong! About what you want from a bourbon ball. Finally, on my last trip I got a variety of jelly beans to put out for a bridal shower. There was a good selection, but they are a bit pricey. The cashiers have so far been alright, the first time was an older lady who seemed annoyed that she had to help me check out. The second was a younger woman who at least pretended to not hate her job, lol. God bless them and give their hearts peace and joy.

I use to love their candy. They would come to Winchester's Pioneer Festival and I couldn't wait to go to their stand to buy peanut butter fudge and peanut butter roll. But, the last 3 or 4 times I have gone to the store, the quality isn't like it use to be. Or, it's old tasting. I'm really disappointed.

I was searching on their website and came across some Hemp candy. It is so creamy and delicious. It apparently is also available in retail stores as well. I find the quality comparable to See's chocolates. Amazing!

DO NOT RECOMMEND What awaits you is a sizeable shop with many items appearing to tempt you. However, Don't mistakingly let your guard down and roam or linger from area to area a moment or two too long. Welcoming small town feel? Nope. To go here you must enjoy having your every step monitored and scrutinized by glaring eyes, nosy, unhelpful, and honestly rude personnel. I don't understand how any one in a service position can be so self unaware. To shop here You further must enjoy personnel dismissing and/or arguing with you, the customer, on how breakable and/or perishable items, you are paying dearly for, should be bagged. Common sense? Nope. Customer respect and convenience? Nope. Purchasing ceramics/ glass? Staff is strangely argumentative in not wrapping/protecting fragile gift items in anything other than thin singular small paper bags even whilst cast in a shopping bag heavy with a plethora of other items no doubt competing for the same space. Requesting tissue paper or further basic item protection will yield you verbal dispute, scoffs, and overall body language that you have somehow disturbed a delicate and precarious balance of staffing's mood. When items are wrapped it is poor and with protestation. While Customer expectations and requests were basic and polite a like kind response was not received. What could have been an enjoyable Sunday drive kind of find, instead morphed into both a new and then a never to be customer again, experience. The shop floor seemed to have so much promise in its selections but I would take far less materially to instead be treated with kindness throughout a shopping experience, especially the checking out process. It seems to not matter how high a purchase amount is, there is no expression or feeling of small business gratitude. When asked regarding specific item availability there was no offer to check back room stock and direct requests for personnel to do so were met with declination and refusal. The restrooms are outdated but that is not a deal breaker. It is lack of attention which beckons a mention. When I see this in a store providing items for consumption I do have some pause. Now when it comes down to the candy, what appears to be hundreds of pieces of varying chocolates are left open on a shelf behind the register but very much exposed to air, germs, and God Forbid insects, common house flies or otherwise that may Or can come and go with customers in and out of the shop. I can appreciate not all Chocolates can be individually wrapped but the ones not under glass surely could have a box lid blocking common air. In reviewing the food items the rice crispie treats are good as are some chocolate barks and huge Reese's cups. The prepackaged cherry coconut haystacks taste unnatural and more like a small extruded ball of chemical paste. The texture is unappealing. The big draw to the location however is alleged to be the pulled cream candy. I can say we prefer Mom Blakeman's by far. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and the texture richly hangs onto the tongue. One can easily eat piece after piece to the delight or detriment however you want to look at it. It is firm, doesn't crumble, and melts on the tongue like a softer version of a extra large dinner/butter mint without the mint flavor. In contrast, Ruth's pulled cream candy is dry, crumbles into dust, and is so sweet it almost has no taste outside of the sweetness. It tastes far sweeter than sugar and no other flavor emerges. A small pinch of this is too much in terms of a sugar shock sensation but that could be beneficial for someone whose blood sugar has plummeted. Most people buy candy for an emotional benefit, a comfort, not because while making your eyes roll back in your head you are out of a blood sugar danger zone. I hope future would be customers find this review helpful. To the shop management I trust you probably already know which particular senior staff are more problematic Over others in Approach and execution vs less senior staff who are likely to be merely insufficiently tra

We have always enjoyed Ruth Hunt candies. Today we ran in to purchase a couple of gifts and it was so impressive that all of the workers were so pleasant and working so well together in such a hectic environment. I wish I knew the name of the young lady that helped us make our selections and ship one gift. I really appreciate her help and her wonderful attitude. She understands what so many have forgotten about customer service.

Years ago when we would come to KY to visit family, my mother would make sure to buy a few bags of cream candy. As an adult, I had forgotten about the stuff until I visited the store. It was perhaps the best discovery of the year! Nothing had changed... still tasted as wonderful as I remembered! As an added bonus, their catalog ordering is fast and I have used that service to send the candy back to my mother from time to time. Ruth Hunt is not limited to just cream candy.. their chocolates and bourbon balls are amazing. Since I left the West Coast, I have been searching for my "sweet spot" and thankfully Ruth Hunt fits the bill.
