Herndon J Evans Lodge is a great place to stay and visit. The location is excellent for park hiking, with trails originating nearby and a nice pool and mini golf on the property. The rooms are nice and updated with comfortable beds and good showers. The restaurant is very good with reasonable prices and a fantastic view of the mountains. The dinner menu offers a good variety, including exceptional catfish, chopped steak, and a salad bar. Portions are large and the food is delicious and well-prepared, with highlights like the house made ranch dressing and salted caramel cookie. The service is consistently friendly, attentive, efficient, and straight great. While the breakfast is pretty simple and tasty, a minor note is that some buffet items can sometimes be cold. Overall, it is definitely worth the visit and stay, providing a great value for your money.
No overnight just lunch. Great salad bar and perfect catfish and club sandwiches. One of nicest and friendly waitresses I've ever had. Definitely will be back, especially for buffet we were too early. Homemade banana pudding was out of this world.

When I say the view from the restaurant is breathtaking, I'm not exaggerating. What a sight. The food was very good as well. The desserts were mouth watering. I'd almost drive all the way back just for their skillet cookie. Friendly staff and simple but good breakfast included with our stay in a cabin.

We stayed in a cabin and ate at the lodge. The views are fantastic and the lodge was decorated for Christmas with several amazing trees. The food was great and local. The only thing better than the food is the excellent staff. Very professional, helpful and friendly.
