I’ve been with them for a few years now and very unsatisfied with their service. Every time I file with them I have to wait all year because something comes up every time.

This will be my last year using H&R Block. The only reason I paid their exorbitantly high filing fees was to have access to the advances. My taxes are very simple to do. Just a W2. I was charged $335 to file my taxes. In December, I did the Early Advance Loan and only got $650. Less than what I got last year! I went yesterday to officially file my taxes and I applied for the advance they give to people. I was declined!
How in the world! They know I'm getting a refund and they can take whatever you owe out of your taxes. So I paid them over $300 to do my simple taxes (I could do myself) in order to get the advances. I got a big $650 in December and a denial yesterday. That's what I paid for. I can remember a time when it was worth it but it's not anymore. Next year, I'll file my taxes on Turbo Tax for free. H&R Block your time is over. There are way too many options to do your taxes today without being charged an arm and a leg for nothing! I also love how the tax preparer is just like, I don't know why you were denied. I don't know nothing. No you don't and that's why you won't be doing my taxes again next year. Good riddance! You'll never get more than $300 to do my taxes again. They should wear ski masks because they are robbing people!

I had Steve Couch as my specialist and was happy with how simple and straightforward the process was. Super easy to talk to and discussed any questions or concerns I had.I felt he upheld his duty as a fiduciary which is extremely important to me when dealing with a financial professional.

I've had way too many problems trying to recover last years tax info, just to be told that even though i verified everything else, I STILL can't access it because I don't have the same phone number anymore.... I guess my social security card wasn't enough???

Very Cold. Acted like he didn't want to answer questions. Didn't even greets us or say more than 5 words to us. Last time dealing with this office. Don't recommend at all.

Not only will I never go back to that location, but my experience was SO unprofessional that I may never use H&R block again. The tax preparer (who had 6 yrs experience), got really confused on how to file my taxes with my college age son. He ran my taxes 3 different times..1st time showed I owed over $1,000..then he changed my tax filing status and was clicking through those boxes so fast without telling me what he was doing. The 2nd result was..I owed OVER $4,000!! I asked him to change it back to what it was before and he said he couldn't. Then he had me sign this one. I'm not exactly sure what happened next, (but grateful it happened), but he left for several minutes, came back with another tax preparer, he was told to remove some of the boxes he checked, then my number changed a third time to owing $800. How does an experienced tax preparer get stumped by not knowing how to file a claim with a college age dependent, and have to re-do my form 3 times?? Then he charged me $250 for prep fees and would not apply my $25.00 coupon!! He screwed up my taxes 3 times and would not not give me a discount?? I'm still not sure they are correct. I went back to my hometown H&R Block this morning, to see if they could check them, and to my surprise, they would not help! She said every H&R Block office is a franchise and there was nothing she could do!! The only reason I went to the Richmond location was because my son did not have enough available time to come home and file them at the office we have been using for the past 10 years. But since my hometown office would not double check them...that's enough to make me just switch companies (after 10 yrs) for next season.!!

If I could rate Gregory Brackney the lowest of low stars I would. To have someone linked to your company like him is a VERY BAD look for H&R block. We spent an hour on the phone with H&R Block customer service who set up an appointment with him specifically here in Richmond and stated they would be sending him an email explaining our issue so he had a heads up. This man acted as if he didn't want to work from the minute we walked in the door. He hadn't opened his mail the other agent in the cubicle next him came over and asked if he had opened the email and read it which was that point he still hadn't. He just kept saying he couldn't help us and he didn't understand why the IDIOTS at H&R Block sent us to him... We called customer service as we are sitting there and she was trying to find a way to send our information to him so he could view it and assist us and he kept saying he couldn't access it. After 20 minutes it was apparent he was not going to help us as all. Can't ask for a manager because he is been infact the Manager. I would NEVER recommend him or H&R Block for ANYTHING!

Steve was absolutely amazing. Kind and understanding to my situation and even completed my taxes a couple weeks after my initial filling due to some complications.
