Not in the inpatient side but the staff I've met so far are pretty nice. Except for one that screamed at a suicidal schizophrenic 13 year old for being "rude" and made them start sobbing. (They weren't being rude) but other than that it's been a pretty okay experience.

I went to this hospital in the early months of 2015. I was 14 at the time so I was in the children side of the hospital. This hospital may be different now but judging by recent reviews it does not seem like it is. I was there for nine days and it was the most awful experience of my life. If you or someone you know needs help-- please look elsewhere because this place is not it. I will never forget the experience I had here. It felt like imprisonment. The nurses would talk to patients like garbage, and would do absolutely nothing. I did not feel safe at this hospital at all. I ended up going back to another hospital a few months later that was located in Kenner, Louisiana-- which was absolutely amazing. I don't see how this place hasn't gotten shut down yet. If you want to get actual help, do not go to this place. The audacity that employees have to even give a positive review is honestly like a slap in the face. If the staff would actually do their job I can guarentee that patients and friends/family of the patients would leave positive reviews because their loved one actually received the care that they need.

Went there for one week. Staff had no compassion. I had my things stolen nobody cares. There's just called if you are and went art class. When I left I was told to catch a bus a mile away and wait to get to my car. Took hours.

Don’t send your loved ones there. They don’t care. I was there for 9 days and it was horrible. There was a patient the openly smoked marijuana and had other patients roll the joints for him. He pulled the marijuana out at least twice in front of me. I was put in a one armed bariatric wheel chair and I wasn’t able to wheel myself most of the time so they allowed other patients to wheel me around. I fell several times and was scared to the point that I started wetting the bed. I was told by the staff that I was nasty and dirty and that I did it on purpose. The first fall that I recall resulted in me being dragged down the hall by not just staff but patients as well. I remember waking up curled against the door in my room and reaching to open the door. I went to a few rooms that weren’t mine because I was confused as to what happened. Head trauma anyone? I eventually made my way down the hall after I found my room and played down again. They were playing music and most of the women were crying. I remember asking if I needed to call my husband to come get me. When I was getting wheeled back to my room one of the patients named Amy said “Oh Rachael” and dissolved into tears. There were other instances of this. Once I got home I learned that my husband packed me a suitcase full of clothes and I was left with just the one outfit. Once ai got out of the hospital in Shreveport named Intensive Specialty my husband and I went to get my suitcase. I had insisted on keeping my cpap which I was told was not allowed. “You can’t have a cpap in here” they said. My carryon bag was lost as well as my eyeglasses which were just a few months old. After the hospital ride to Cabrini which occurred at some point I was placed on “one to one”. The “nurse” had me keep the android tablet they used to check on me every fifteen minutes several times and only once was it taken away from me. I did go to the hospital once for falling. I was screened and sat there with a girl that prepared food for the men’s part which is where I suppose I was at. Another aid or nurse, how could any of us tell the difference, put her feet on my bed and threatened me that I better not piss the bed. They were all more interested in being on their phones than actually caring for anyone. There was one nurse named Gail that did actually see about me. She greeted me the night I got back from the ER and said “Everything that you didn’t get from Longleaf you will get now”. I know she means better care and the dealings I had with her I could tell she really cared. My husband called and a patient answered and told him I fell and was at the hospital. He then came to visit me and wanted to take me home only to be told “You can’t have her” by one fiesty nurse. A social advocate came and spoke to him. I wasn’t transferred for several more days. This is not a place you want to send your loved ones. I am consulting an attorney and further action will be pending. Longleaf…do not answer this review and tread carefully with the rest of your patients. Due to all the negative reviews I’m sure they have had legal action before. My insurance is now launching an investigation as well.

My gs has been in long leaf 3 different times. He has bi polar depression, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD with impulse control disorder and combative behavior disorder. It is scary for a parent to have a child in a mental health hospital. I have been treated respectfully and all questions answered. I have been asked if I would allow medication changes. Each incident, fight or injury, I was called and given as much information as they had. My gs was allowed to call once a day. I could call anytime and speak with a nurse in his unit anytime and check on him. Everyone has been professional, courteous and seems to care. I am not employed by the hospital nor have any relatives working there. I've seen other hospitals and this one is the best by far.

I was in longleaf for 9 days and every single concern I had about my metal illness was addressed. My medicine was changed until it fit me. And every single one of the staff was so kind and treated me really good. I'm thankful I had a place like this to go.the only think I can think of that needs work is it should be more therapy and more to do.

Longleaf has been a great help with my brother, especially Laura Stroud. Each time my brother has been admitted, she has gone above and beyond to help us with him. She is a dedicated employee who seems to love what she does. Thank you for Laura!

I was at this place for 9 painful days. I had a somewhat conscious seizure (first experience) started crawling out of my room barely and yelling for help. The nurse yelled at me to get back in my room. Proceeded to have 3 more and was not treated and was actually told I was over reacting and it was anxiety.. what a joke. This place needs shut down

My 14 year old autistic son was committed to Long Leaf because of something a teacher heard him say at school. A nurse called me for permission to give him meds. It was something that his doctor just weened him off of and I told them not to give it to him because of adverse affects. They gave it to him anyway. He called me and said he was choked by another patient.and was scared for his life. I finally got someone on the phone and she said" O he fine". I tried calling the patient advocate and was never called back. I finally got someone else to answer the phone and for 11 minutes I heard " ummm he umm his umm we umm "".... I'm going to have to get him counseling to get over his stay at Long leaf. I brought him clothes and then again two day later and the same bag was still up front from two days before. I just brought him home after six days and he is covered with bruises from other patients hitting him in the day room. He's actually my grandson, I adopted him after my daughter was killed by a drunk driver. I believe it's a money making racket. They keep them as long as insurance will allow and send them home. The only thing they did was put him on medication that I told them not to put him on.

Horrible. Fiance went for mental health crisis and was told to sign a paper or else they would keep him against his will. Family (his mother) isnt allowed to discharge him. Did not see a doctor until 36 hours after admission, and no access to social worker or mental health advocate until 40 hours after. Different rules for different people even with same complaint. Some can have phones, some can have watches. Nurses won’t update. You try to call the facility and ask to be directed to their doctor or discharge and you get voicemail with no call back EVER. Would not wish this facility upon my worst enemy and must be shut down. Inhumane treatment of patients and no respect for health concerns. Fiance has celiac and was only fed a salad within first 24 hours.

Friendly welcoming atmosphere, staff are super nice and even tho I was only there while my husband was signing up for the outpatient program they offered me a lunch plate, this facility was more than willing to help my husband out when the other facility and even his own family physician would not help all bc of one medication he is on to help with his rehabilitation journey, if not for this facility he would have had to go to the emergency room, so thankful they have this outpatient program

Accepted a patient with a mental health crisis who also had a medical condition. They've treated this patient before. After the patient was there a day a male nurse called and asked the family to bring them home because they aren't equipped to care physically for them and it was too time consuming for the hospital to find a place for them.

i personally am a child that got sent there a little less than 2 weeks ago , they were absolutely terrible to me , the staff and tech were beyond disrespectful and disgusting and one of the girls almost killed herself in there and they left her in seclusion by herself with no one until the stretcher arived she was bleeding out and almost died, i had the most traumatic experience i woild recomend never sending your child there ,, every parent that found out what happened while i was there came up to the hospital threatening to sue, and they have bed bugs and keep hair in our food which is disgusting

Longleaf is hands-down the best place to work! Amazing administration, my boss is the best, and my coworkers have become more like family! So grateful to work for such an amazing organization.
