I DO NOT recommend staying at this hotel. This hotel is disgusting (roaches, sheets were visibly dirty, and could see the dirt buildup around the edges of the floors) Had to request a new room as soon as we got there because the toilet flooded the bathroom from the bottom of the toilet (not from being clogged) ? The only positive thing I have to say is that the rooms are spacious. Hotel is in a bad location. Sketchy people loitering. They don’t actually have breakfast. The pool was green. Overall just not a good experience and would not recommend unless they really change some things.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Firstly it is in a very bad part of town. When we pulled up to the front door there were a few sketchy people standing right out side the front door. They were smoking weed and were way too interested in our German Shepard. They hung out there the whole hour that we were there.Second, the room was not really clean. The sheets were visibly dirty, there were clumps of hair on the pillows and sheets. Under the bed looked like it had never been cleaned. There was so much trash and nastiness going on under there. The floors in the room were sticky as well. The website says they have a bar/restaurant, but the guy at the front desk let us know he’s worked there for a while and it’s never been open. So they don’t actually have that. The pool doors are locked, but for good reason. The pool was so filthy and the pool deck looked like it hadn’t seen human interaction since it was built. As we went around the back of the hotel, we noticed that there were windows that looked like rocks had been thrown through. We couldn’t stay and we def didn’t feel comfortable leaving our dog there to go get something dog to eat. When we went back to leave and let them know we weren’t staying there, I was informed that since I used a third party website I had to contact them. I don’t use those websites for hotels. After finding my confirmation I realized it was a third party, so I went back on their website to see. And as soon as I clicked book, I got redirected to the third party site. So you don’t have an option there.I called the hotel to talk to them about a refund and the person told me they don’t have a website! I told him I was currently on it and that’s where I pulled their number from. He argued with me about not having a website and wouldn’t listen to me. I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was in fact the manager. And then I was hung up on. 0/10 on this one. (We ended up staying at a really awesome hotel called the Origin. I would absolutely recommend that place to anyone thinking of staying the Baton Rouge area)Rooms: Rooms are a good size. But not clean. If you do stay here, make sure you look under the bed and pull back the sheets. Sheets were visibly dirtySafety: Not a safe area at all. Very run down and lots of homeless activity. People were smoking weed and selling drugs right by the front door

Hotel management:I can add photos of my condition after staying one night at your facility if that is what you are requestingRooms: Bed bug infestation. I’ve been in hundreds of hotels in the US and abroad including third world countries and never experienced anything like this. The bed was the most comfortable I slept on the entire trip. However. I began to notice hives in the morning when I woke up. I checked the linen and didn’t realize precisely how filthy and stained it was. The hives only got worse and after visiting urgent care a day later I was informed it was bed bug bites. I react to them… my wife doesn’t.

Greater cleaning is necessary in the rooms. Sheets stained and placed backwards, very strong smell that causes a headache. Very little lighting so you don't see the poor hygiene. There was garbage under the bed. The man's attention is good and he is pleasant.

The room looked nice at first, but when it was time to go to sleep, I discovered the sheets had not been washed and that there were bed bugs.

Spend your money on a higher priced hotel. We got a room for one night and couldn’t last the whole night. The bed was so creaky and didn’t feel that it would support us at night. We we got up to use the bathroom we saw grime in the toilet and bathtub. In the morning we saw bugs crawling around on the floor and would go under the bed. Awful place. Go to another place.

Looked like a quaint little old hotel near a casino. Quaint isn’t a word I would use to describe it after a night there. Just old! It did have the distinction of giving me a hilariously gross story. In the middle of the night, my dog awakened me and presented me with a pair of undergarments that she found on the floor. I assumed they were my wife’s. When I showed them to her the next morning, she said they were definitely not hers. Ewwwww!

Good hotel. Spacious, clean room and bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Good hotel for a quick stay. The staff is friendly, and the check-in and check-out went very smoothly. The rooms are a bit outdated but clean. The lobby looks pretty cool.

Decent hotel, but the LOUDEST air conditioner I've ever had in a hotel room. Older hotel, older amenities, very big rooms. Could be really nice if the owners did some renovations.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The establishment is unique in decorum and the rooms are spacious. Great for the price and only 15-20 minutes from downtown Baton Rouge.

The one star is for the courtyard in the lobby. We went through two rooms, the first filthy, stains on all furniture and sheets, black mold in the fridge plus it was leaking water. My husband talked to the attendant at the counter and they gave us another room key to check out. Same. Exact. Mess. But this time there was mold all over the bottom of our shower curtain as well as the fridge again! There was grime on all counter tops and a pair of earphones and Walmart bags stuffed inside of the couch. I wish I could add the photos I took and how much we had to clean just the basics of this room to use it. Dont fall for this place! Also absolutely NO AMMENITIES. Take your money to a hotel that can follow basic sanitary guidelines.

No bar, no breakfast, no coffee pot anywhere. Room was clean and fresh on the bottom floor. Comfortable bed. Lobby is nice. Staff is accommodating. Stayed for an LSU game. Would stay again.

My spouse and I visited Baton Rouge October 21st thru October 23rd for a family event. We were unfamiliar with this hotel, but were limited in sleeping options due to Southern University's and LSU's Homecoming festivities. The staff was very professional and polite (seems to be family owned). However, the rooms need a complete overhaul and deep cleaning. The bed was old and creaked when sitting on it and each time that we moved while lying down. We weren't sure it would support both of us and we're not overweight. Our room was dark, dusty and not clean. The lighting was very dim causing the room to be dark, there was dust on the headboard of the bed, end tables, toilet tank, toiletpaper holder, wooden ledges of countertops in bathroom and kitchenette area. There was dust and dead bugs on the floor between bed and wall. The floor was sticky in the entire room and bathroom. There was no soap holder for the shower and it was obvious that someone had used the shampoo, but the container wasn't thrown away because there was a little shampoo left. Nor was there a "do not disturb" placard for the door. While guests do not encounter criminal activity onsite, Royal Inn & Suites is more of an upscale motel (i.e. budget hotel) rather than a mid-range hotel. If you're just looking for a room to shower, change clothes and get a little shut-eye, BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING AND CLEANING SUPPLIES because this is your place. However, if you're looking for an updated, clean, comfortable room without a lumpy mattress that offers free breakfast then please keep looking.
