I am giving a higher rating because I have been a mod salon customer for years and have recently had a horrible experience. My regular girl (Jade) was out on maternity leave so I had to see her replacement Chastity. If you have the option, DO NOT GO TO CHASTITY. My hair is LITERALLY turning orange from highlights I received from her. I also let them know I am not satisfied with the service provided and she never even attempted to contact me or make it tight which made me even more angry. She let me sit in the blower to blow dry my hair cause she didn't have time to finish my appointment but still charged my the full $220 for a partial highlight, I feel like I got screwed out of what could have been a great highlight for a wedding I had in December and will still not wear my hair down because it literally looks like shit. I have the most chunky highlights and feel like I look like Kelly Clarkson from the 2000s.... I hate my hair. See pictures. Please reconsider if you have to schedule with chastity.

I want so bad to give this salon a5 stars bug i cannot seem to even get in for an appt. Everything i have seen (In pictures) looks absolutely amazing and I would really be thrilled to be able to be seen by somebody there I am in desperate need of a haircut roots done color everything pretty much with fine thin hair What's the longest part is to my color bones but shorter in the back (but not drastically). I only hope and pray that somebody sometime soon has an opening for a new client because I need a new stylist mine was injured and I am long overdue for my hair to be fixed I'd use good products I have good styling tools I don't dismiss my hair is just whatever I try to make it look as good as I can but I can't do anything with it right now because it is so overgrown and has gray roots and I don't even want to go in public and my birthday is coming up in just a few weeks and the holidays are here coming up as well and I'm just at a loss I really hope somebody has the ability to see a new client but I understand that they are busy because they look to be extremely good so I don't have anything ugly to say only positive stuff from just what I've seen and they also look like they're down to earth girls which is the type of people I mesh with. My fingers and toes are crossed.....hopefully one day. Oh and I'm also open to lots of things with my hair and they seem very well educated to where they could know what hair coloring is good for your skin coloring and all that type of thing as well as what cut is good for your face shape and everything else. I'm just hoping and hoping!

Jade is the best. She always dazzles me with her mastery of natural looking color and highlights. The atmosphere is good also. Some salons have a stuffy vibe but everyone is kind there. If jade was unavailable, I'd be happy to see anyone else there. That's hard to say anywhere else.

I see Trang who always provides a great cut and wash with awesome, friendly service. The environment is clean and welcoming and all the other staff are very friendly and hospitable.

I'm super happy I found this place! I just moved from Houston (where I lived for a few years, and never found a hairdresser who could keep my blonde hair healthy and beautiful) so I was skeptical. I had a hair dresser in Pittsburgh who I loved and was so sad to have never found anyone I liked in Houston. Moving to Baton Rouge, I was definitely nervous that I would be in the same boat. I found Mod Salon on Yelp and found the prices reasonable. I usually tend to Instagram stalk the stylists and look at the Yelp review pictures to see who looks like they handle blondes well. I found Trang and scheduled an appointment directly with her, which was super easy. She was accommodating and we worked via text to find something that met both of our needs. I came in basically for a retouch of my very over-grown blonde highlights & toner, and a much needed trim. Trang did an AMAZING job. My hair isn't orangey at all, which I've struggled with in the past, and the highlights are beautiful and complement my face well. She lightened it up just enough, not making it too high maintenance but brightening me up to my old blonde. She was careful to not touch the over processed ends of my hair which I appreciated because they are very damaged from past stylists and honestly probably can't handle another blonde dye. When the highlights were finished she used a toner to brighten up the roots overall, and then we finished with a cut. I had expressed that I'm trying to grow out my old layers and bangs to achieve one even length throughout my hair. Trang did a great job of trimming length where needed but not giving me any new layers or creating any new face-framing pieces, since I have quite a bit. The price was reasonable and she was so friendly - will absolutely be returning and I'm so happy I found this place!

Kelsey is THE best ! I cut my hair shortest ever and was super scared about that. But Kelsey did a superb job and I was soooo happy with my cut. She's very attentive to customer's request and I will definitely be going to her again!

Prepare for a difficult scheduling process. I moved to BR from Austin, TX which had plenty of excellent and high-end salons to choose from and I was always able to be seen for a same week or next week appointments. There isn't a receptionist, and your appointment must be made online or through text, not the best model but I guess there must be a benefit to it. I wasn't too put off when having to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, however when the day of my appointment finally comes around it is cancelled 30 minutes prior (Kelsey has the flu which is understandable). This review is mainly because there is no procedure in place in case this happens. I was bumped down to the bottom of the waiting list again and it would be at least another 2 weeks before I could be seen. I have engagement photos happening soon, hence why I scheduled so far in advance and thus my disappointment when I could not be fit in before then. The absurdity of waiting 5 weeks for a hair appointment set in, and I became disillusioned very quick. Kelsey was apologetic and offered suggestions for a different salon I could try instead. Still, I don't think I'll be attempting Mod Salon again
