Great nature trial to walk, expect to see a lot of armadillos!! Thanks for all the hard work for making this a place we can enjoy.Parking: Gravel and dirt low. Could fit maybe 20ish cars before having to park along the road.Fees: No fees as far as I can tell. Donations welcome, however.Restrooms: Men and women restrooms located at the start of the trail.Dog-friendliness: Great place to bring your dog. They MUST be on a leash however, for there are alligators in the canals.

As a Cypress tree lover, this trail was amazing. All the different formations they made. Saw wildlife , 5 armadillos, 1 solamander, butterflies, squirrels, and 1 large boar. The trail is moderate as it has roots and cypress knees everywhere, there is a geocache route or whatever it's called and a few more. The bunkers were nice to see. The signs and information boards were very interesting. Bring lots of water and some snacks if you explore like I do. Overall a great hike.Restrooms: Restrooms at the beginning of the trail.

I loved hiking this trail with my brother. My brother loves cypress trees, so he was in heaven; it was the bees knees. I saw beautiful orange butterflies, armadillos, one large boar, plus lots of other wildlife. When I realized I had donated enough blood, I called on uncle Deet to put a stop to it.Restrooms: Restrooms at parking area

We did the 5 mile loop with the dog last Saturday. The trails were mostly cut and made for easy walking. Lots of shade and clean bathrooms made for decent walking in 100+ temps.Restrooms: Clean and well kept with flush toilets.

Pleasant 1 mile birding / nature trail. The walk to the pictured WW2 ammunition bunker is 10 miles and 10 miles back, with no parking at the far end. There is talk of having a road and parking there. I don't know if I'll ever attempt it. There are two parallel trails, one for walking and the other for horses. I believe that all 3 trails are hardwood bottom trails. People have posted complaints that it is sometimes muddy. That's WHAT the bottoms mean. This complaint is like griping that some of the trails in the Smokies are steep. There are exciting additions to come, including a nature museum. ?

Was in for a visit and did the 5 mile hike with my Aunt. Very moderate hike follows the levy the levy. Its over grown in some areas and its warming up so keep your eyes peeled for snakes, the armadillos were out as well I almost kicked one on the trail. The WWII ammunition batteries are a neat piece of history. In all its a great nature hike close to everything.

One of my favorite hiking/walking trails. Very well maintained and has clean facilities at the start of the trail. Runs about a 5 mile loop with WWII bunkers at the top of the trail. Great for taking photographs of wildlife.Careful though- lots of snakes.

This is a very nice trail to walk. It’s about 5.5miles if you are doing the entire trail. There are bathroom areas by the entrance which were decent. It was really nice getting to the back to see the WWII depots. You can bring your dogs for a walk as long as they are leashed. I did see. horse trail signs also but didn’t see anyone riding when we went. It was a really nice walk. Would definitely come back again.

Such an exquisite walk through the woods! Deeply healing and magical. An abundance of wildlife! Owls, deer, armadillo, boar, aligators, otters, eagles, hawks and so many birds. I love coming here to connect with my soul. Thank you to all who make this trail so beautiful! Love and Light, Lauren

Very enjoyable trail walking. Would have given 5 stars, but there are a few spots that need to be raised or a small plank trail because it is swampy and not easy to cross. Went with my husband and two dogs and walked the longest trail. Saw a bald eagle and an armadillo.Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly. Lots of smells and places to explore with the furbabies.

The Woodlands trail is close to the city but offers a secluded retreat in nature. The trails right now are all really well groomed, offering a great place to trail run! I saw no critters when I went on a chilly morning mid Dec. Parking and bathrooms at the trailhead.Restrooms: Nice flush toiletsDog-friendliness: On leash unless well behaved. Large boars can be found out here which could fight dogs, be waryPicnic area: Large pavilion in the front and picnic tables off on one trail
