Whitney Plantation is a powerful and emotional museum dedicated exclusively to telling the true story of slavery. It provides a sobering and informative experience, offering an unforgettable and must-see journey. The tour is very informative, delivering a powerful message to never forget what happened. It is a history they don't want to talk about, but it happened and it's true. Visitors walk the grounds, seeing the actual names of enslaved people and memorials, which brings feelings of sadness, anger, and pride. The trees and paths make one feel like they’ve stepped back in time. Knowledgeable tour guides, including descendants of enslaved people, share their care and knowledge. An award-winning audio tour is also available. It is an absolutely worth-it experience, especially for Black Americans visiting the area.
It was a great experience. Understanding the history behind it and how it came to be what it is today. I'm grateful to has been able to visit. Also my tour guide Justin was the best. Highly recommend him if your AA💪🏾

Our guide Justin was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable and gave the rich history with facts and intimate details. The shop is full of gems and historical artifacts. My one suggestion is that you visit early morning or in the evening as the heat was unbearable. Stay hydrated, wear a hat and bring a hand held fan.

I don't think I have ever visited a place that was so beautiful yet so heartbreaking before I went to Whitney Plantation. My husband and I did the self guided tour. By the end I was in tears. The property is well kept and the staff were so friendly. Highly recommend visiting this important part of our history
