Quick wash that did the job but vacuums don't work good.

I went today for the first time with my new car. Upset when I got home and realized that my entire car was clean except for the hood. It looked worse than before the washing. How does that happen?

The free vacuums are nice, but I wasn't all that impressed with the wash. For $12 I feel like my windshield should look better than it looks in the photo (which is pretty much the same as it looked before, wish I'd taken a before pic).
