I deleted my original review after going through the adoption process and am starting over with a new one. We couldn't go into the facility to pick up the puppy because of social distancing restrictions so the first time we met her was outside the building- a little scary but she was adorable and well cared for and our fears disappeared when we saw her. The woman who helped us was kind and she clearly loves the animals and her job. Thank you for helping Birdie find her furever home.3 years later...I'm adding a photo of Birdie Mae grown up but always precious. We're up north now but we're still a team. Thanks to the shelter for giving me a healthy four legged friend. She is adored.

I adopted a sweet female Kitten from St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter and she is the PERFECT kitten, even though she was a feral kitten, she is VERY social, friendly, cuddly, and energetic. The staff really cares about the work they do, they answered all my questions and were professional and caring! Will adopt from them in the future!

It was a sad yet wonderful experience dealing with the animal shelter. Sad because i had no other choice too locate our missing cat. The staff was so amazing, even the custodial lady, who got someone to come talk to me before they were even open. The ladies i have spoken with were so patient, understanding. Thank you everyone.

I’ve never adopted from here but I’ve volunteered here numerous times and I enjoyed it. As all animal shelter I wish for larger spaces for the animals but they are all taken care of with much love and care. They are welcoming with volunteers as they are short on employees, I was able to walk, feed, wash them, and play with the animals. It’s also very clean, I only wish for their facility to be bigger to better accommodate the animals.

My tortoise Rudy escapedfrom our house. We live in Hahnville on a large piece of land. We looked all over for him with no luck. My son noticed a posting for a tortoise in Hahnvillle. He went Saturday to see if it was Rudy he said he was sure it was him but they would not release him without proof of identity. He had a picture that look just like Rudy but still would not release him. When I went today to see if it was him at first they wouldn't let us see him because he was in quarantine until he was checked out. When I told her my son had held him Saturday she finally let me see him. He looked just like Rudy .Still they would not release him to us. What will it take to get him? I am very dissatisfied with St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter in how they handled our getting Rudy back. I don't know anyone else that has a tortoise in Hahnville.

I haven't adopted a pet from this location, however, I have volunteered and I've only seen the animals being cared for and treated well. The facility is still new, but maintained and sanitary. Most animals are excited to see people and want attention so I really don't believe the prior reviews about pets being skiddish after recovered from this shelter.

They have attitudes with people. My cat had been missing for TWO WEEKS when I saw them put him up at petsmart and asked about him as well as showed them pics of proof he was mine. They LIED and said they had him for over a month and straight out refused to tell me how I could get him back. They are extremely unprofessional and rude.

Just the past week my son Kolby went to volunteer as he does every year for the last 4 years for his school hours. He goes to all boys catholic school which they expect them to do 40 hours each year. So, we feel that is only right to support our local town animal shelter. The lady that works the front desk was so rude to him the first day he just thought she was having a bad day so he went bad the next day thinking it would better BUT she was even worse the next day so much that he does NOT want to do back. So, I guess we will have to find some were else that welcomes the free labor!!Shana Bourgeois
