For generations my family has been customers of Metairie Bank (checking, savings, mortgages, loans) so I was very happy to learn that this location existed when I moved to the northshore ten years ago. I can honestly say that I’ve always been made to feel like my business has been appreciated, no matter how small. A few years ago, I certainly appreciated the responsiveness and sincere effort the staff at this location made to remedy some unauthorized transactions on my account and did so without questioning my honesty. Other banks may have more locations, but I believe quality over quantity definitely applies here. Thank you for providing our community with unwavering great and reliable service.

I sold my boat on a Friday to a person I met on craigslist. Everything seemed legit and I had told him that I would only take a cashiers check from a local bank and they had one made out from Metairie bank. So Friday I rushed back from Slidell only to find that the bank closed an hour early and I got there about 2-5 minutes after closing for a parade route. So I had to sit the weekend wondering if I had a real check or a photocopy or what. . . My fault I guess for not leaving 10 minutes earlier not realizing they were closing early for a parade. When they opened the following Monday (not open on Saturday) I brought my cashiers check in and they wanted to charge me $96 to cash a cashiers check drawn on Metairie bank without an account. So I said ok, I'll open an account. They then said they didn't want my account because they thought I was just opening an account to cash the check. So I'm standing there with a cashiers check for a boat that I sold drawn on a Metairie bank cashiers check that they want to charge me $96 to cash or I can take it to my bank and deposit it no charge and worry about being given a fake check for a boat I just sold that may take a month to show up as a fake. Read some cashier check stories online for yourself about getting scammed. Sad part is that I have accounts all over with different banks that I will deposit checks in for my 3 year old as a savings account and I would have done the same with them. No thanks, stay clear. I won't deal with people like this. And on a side note, I hate to and only would never leave a negative review if all other options are exhausted as they were with them that day. I was contacted by them and apparently I left the review on the wrong branch so I've corrected it. Don't really see how it matters though as they are still under the same umbrella. I've always heard that if you go with a local bank, you'll end up with better service. Metairie Bank does just that and does it very well. So well that I am considering moving all of my business to this bank. That's right, Metairie is not my main bank, but a few months ago, I had the pleasure of visiting with one of their bankers. I will spare you the boring details, but will describe in detail the service. First off the banker knew my mother. Sure she didn't know her well enough to not ask for ID, but apparently most of the drive through workers did. We sat down and conducted our business, but it felt as if we were dealing with a friend instead of a banker. She truly made us feel welcome despite the business being relatively minor as far as the bank was concerned. I've never received that level of service from my own bank. If you need a bank and want personal service the way banking used to be, I encourage you to check out Metairie bank.
