“These guys are great! We had looked around trying to find a reliable shop and after reading the reviews of several, this one sounded like a good shop and boy is it. We took our car in for a problem with the clutch and they fixed that quickly and correctly. But they also noticed that our air conditioner wasn't working. And they asked if we wanted to have them look at that, well, we'd already had four other shops work on that air conditioner and we had spent just about as much for that repair as we had to buy the car in the first place. This car is our baby, we tow it behind our motorhome and it's one of just a few that can be flat towed and we love her so we were willing to trying one more time to get the air conditioner fixed. They filled the freon again, because it was low indicating that there was a leak and they also put an identifier dye in the system and said to go ahead and drive it for a few days to see if we can identify the leak at that point. We did just that and it did in fact leak out again and got warmer and warmer so we took it in and they were able to identify that the problem was at the compressor and they ordered a compressor and put it in the car in very short order. Now I've never wanted a mechanic to do a job fast, I've always insisted that they do it right over fast but these guys gave us both. We've been about 3 weeks now with the repair and everything's working fine, so I feel comfortable giving them this five-star review at this point. I never give a review of any place that's done work for me until I've had a few weeks to make sure that the repairs were done correctly and in this case these were. The office help is professional but laid back and relaxed, and they stay right on top of keeping you updated with what's going on with your vehicle throughout the repair process. I can't recommend these guys highly enough but if you do need a reliable shop that works quickly and gets the job done correctly this is your shop”

Additionally, they are honest in letting me know what services I can wait on or aren't necessary at the moment, which is great for my wallet and building trust! “I didn’t choose Star Auto - my 1997 Ford Ranger threw its timing belt on I-10 as I was in town visiting my daughter and son-in-law who live in New Orleans. As our insurance only pays for a tow to a nearby garage, we had it towed to Star Auto (which I knew nothing about - it was just happened to be the closest garage). I know less than nothing about vehicles - and being stuck where I was, I was in a pretty vulnerable position to be ripped off…I’m in a strange city and don’t have a ton of options. The guy at Star Auto gave me a quote, replaced my timing belt, and then actually charged me LESS than the quote! What mechanic does that??!! A great experience which restored my faith in humanity! If you want an honest mechanic, go see the guys at Star Auto!”

“TLDR: Transmission fluid leak; repaired at a fair price and work guaranteed for 1 year. Front desk is great.
Enjoyed dealing with their front office! The boss took a little time to chat about the process and bracketed estimates. April at the desk was friendly and honest, very pleasant to work with. If a Mechanic was around they would typically hold the door for me and that was not necessary but very much noticeable.
Another review mentioned credit card fees. All credit transactions incur fees and this is capped in the sate of Louisiana. I suggest square as an alternative to clover to likely reduce the share of fees West Transmission has to pay to process credit. Of course the customer will do better with debit.
They had an open bay in the morning, my Jeep was ready late afternoon.
Repair was fairly priced:
Labor: $400(likely split between the trans lines and AC work; access to both involves similar front-end disassembly).
Parts: $300
AC Evac & Recharge Fee: $100.00 (standard shop add-on for evacuating old refrigerant, leak test, and refill with R-134a).
I will consider them in the future!”

“This guy did some work on a vehicle I had bought for my girl a while back. The transmission was no good at all vehicle stalled a lot etc. I called him he quoted a possible price, he checked the car thoroughly and we moved forward. Let’s just say he did what he did best and I never had to return to him or call him.
