Nice staff, but that’s it. Isolated, uncomfortable location. Room was dirty and rundown. Do NOT recommend.

for price it’s an amazing deal. you get a kitchen and the rooms are a nice size. the only concerning thing is the management team. got there and waited over 20 minutes for check in; next day the rude desk lady didn’t want to extend the reservation as i was told i can do it but she was very persistent that i couldn’t and had an attitude when i said the rules were different. anyways brittany and brandy were amazing but the other lady needs to be fired ?.

DON'T STAY HERE! We made the mistake of booking a room here on New Year's Eve because of exorbitant prices downtown due to the Sugar Bowl the next day. We booked two rooms, spending more than $600 for one night, due to demand pricing. First off, the hotel is an old Navy barracks isolated in the middle of a former military base. There are no restaurants or other amenities within walking distance. Once you get inside, you realize there is no elevator to the second floor. So you have to haul all your bags up the stairs. When we asked for extra blankets, we were only given one, as that was all they had in stock. But the coup de grace lay in wait for us in the bathroom. In one of our rooms, the bathroom light and fan were controlled by a single switch. When you flipped it on, it turned on both the light and the fan, which emitted what sounded like the call of a strangling goose. The 80 decibels of ungodly screeching never went away, no matter how long you waited. So we were forced to use the bathroom with our iphone flashlights or the door cracked. When we complained about the situation to the front desk, the staff person merely wrote a note in her notebook. She made no attempt to accommodate us in another room or call in a maintenance person. She wouldn't even come to the room to examine the situation. The next day, we complained again to the manager. She wouldn't examine the fan either and simply smirked as I described the situation. She made no offer of a discount or refund, saying that we had the option the night before to check out and find another hotel. This option was never presented to us, but was our responsibility to request, according to the manager. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and cannot imagine treating a guest with such indifference and lack of concern. In addition, the hotel walls are thin, and there are many scuff marks on the walls and furniture, showing an apparent lack of maintenance by hotel staff.Don't stay here, whatever you do. Life is too short for bad hotels with uncaring staff and management.Rooms: The rooms are in disrepair with marks on walks and on furniture. Walls are thin.Nearby activities: There are no hotels or other amenities within walking distance. Algiers and the ferry are about a 30 minute walk.Walkability: The hotel is isolated in the middle of a former military base. There are no amenities withing walking distance.

This is by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I've been in hospitality/customer service my entire career. I am familiar with good customer service.First: check in: the attitude of the front desk clerk was very evident. It's as if I was disturbing her. She was in the back on the computer. I had to make my presence known before she acknowledged us. The room was ok. I knew not to expect much for the price. But I at least expect not to have to hunt down extra towels because the front desk clerk is sitting in her car instead of behind the desk. She spent more time in her car that evening than she did at the desk.Secondly, there is no housekeeping. Our room was not attended to. No fresh towels. The basic things you expect during a hotel stay. On night 2 , I had a medical situation that I needed to get back in my room immediately for. They keys did not work. Why make keys for one night if the reservation is for 2. So while I sat on the floor in the hall, my cousin had to hunt down the front desk clerk who again was in her car (putting on makeup) and had an attitude with my cousin as if she was somehow an inconvenience to her.On the morning of check out, when housekeeping finally showed up. They didn't knock or announce themselves before trying to enter the room. Luckily, I had the security lock on. After a less than pleasant check out (clerk was on the phone (speaker) no less with a family member or friend the entire time. Very unpleasant. When I realized I had left my retainer in the room after I had left the property, I called to inform them of what I left. That it was a high value item and that I would return for it within the hour. This information was never communicated with maintenance or housekeeping. Instead of putting it in lost and found, it was thrown away. I had to dig through the trash in the dumpster to try and find it. To no avail. $500 retainer gone. With not as much an apology for the inconvenience of having to Uber back and forth multiple times only to come up empty-handed.The entire staff had a miserable attitude. No one had a hospitality spirit or even the desire to do their job. This place needs an extreme overhaul. Employees need to be trained or replaced. Your job as a front desk clerk is to make the customers stay as pleasant as possible. They failed horribly. I do not recommend staying here, ever.Rooms: Very VERY basic. Do not expect anything other than a place to lay your head or use the bathroom.

Came for 3 night stay for birthday. Light fixtures in room were not working. Outlets in room also were not working. We couldn’t plug in anything. The sheets were filthy and had multiple stains. The bathtub was filthy and had cracked interior in the tub. Very unsanitary and unsafe.Went down to the front desk to inform management about the room and see if we could switch rooms. There was no one on staff at the front desk. The check in clerk had left a note saying she would be back on the premises in 30 minutes but to call the number listed on the note she left at the front desk if we needed immediate assistance. Kept calling number. No one answered. The clerk finally came back over an hour later. Explained to her about the condition of the room. She stated they had no other available rooms to put us in. Had to go to Walmart and purchase sheets to sleep on, that’s how filthy the hotel sheets were.Went to check out the next morning because this obviously wasn’t livable conditions. The day clerk, Sylvia, stated that once I called the travel agency I booked with, the hotel would approve the refund for the two days that I didn’t stay. I asked Sylvia if I could get something in writing about the refund. She stated I couldn’t get anything in writing but once the travel agency called them, they would have the refund approved. I called the travel agency to report my departure. The travel agency contacted me via email approximately 2 weeks later to inform me that after several attempts, the hotel would not answer nor return the agencies phone calls to approve my refund.

This was the most disgusting and gross place I have ever stayed. Dried urine and hairs on the toilet. Old food in the kitchen . Hair in the bed sheets . Yellow pillows with stained pillow sheets. I thought it was a pay by hour motel .Ms.Sabrina was nice , the lady at the from desk. That's all I can say

3rd stay over the course of about two years, the first and last stays were the worst. First stay, it’s 9am and cleaning crew kept trying to come into my room. Check out is 11am. They kept opening the door even though I latched it and they were so loud talking I could hear them through the door as I was doing stuff for work. 3rd and most recent stay, my bathroom light didn’t work, the pillows were incredibly dingy, the drawer with the cutlery had sticky gunk in it, the top cabinet had trash in it, and the stove top had built up dirt from uncleaned food spills. But there was free parking which is a plus and vending machines and laundry services on site. Bring your own pillowcases and dish soap if you plan to use the dishes they provide. And be sure to bolt your door so no one barges in while you’re indecent!

I visited last April and loved the hotel so much!!!The young guy who used to work up front was helpful, friendly and had a very professional demeanor. I told him that he was the reason I was booking again for my next trip. This go around my room was dirty as h*ll and had the worst odor. My sheets had stains and the tub paint was peeling ?the room felt damp…. Staff seemed to not care and wasn’t as helpful this time but what can I expect when the only helpful staff member no longer works there. Definitely will NOT RETURN!

I've stayed here three times and have had varied experiences. First off, this building is an old military building, either an old Navy Lodge or non-resident housing (barracks). So if you're prior military you'll recognize the setup. There is a nice lap pool and splash pad run by the city across the street that you can inquire about. The room are comfy and most have a kitchenette. The beds were comfortable as well. If you require multiple pillows while sleeping, you should bring some extras, only two per bed. The cleanliness of the bathrooms left much to be desired on every occasion though. This last time there was a loofa left in the shower, toilet didn't appear clean (last two times), lots of accumulating hair along the edges on the baseboards, missing sink drain covers. There's not much left in Federal City and hasn't been for years, lots of old Navy buildings if you're into some sightseeing of that sort of thing. There's a small running track across from the hotel that passes in front of the New Orleans PD 4th Precinct. There is a Subway within a 5 minute walk, but it has been temporarily closed for some time now. Not much else in the area for food that is really walkable. Algiers Point which you can either drive to or bike/walk to via the MS River levee paved pedestrian/bike path (about a 20 min scenic and safe walk).Nearby activities: There is close access to the West Bank levee bike and walking path. This can take you along the river all the way to Gretna. It gives great city views and passes in front of the ferry to New Orleans. Closest restaurants that are accessible to this path would be near the ferry, which would be about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. There are also a couple great bars in that area, one of which is on the list of historic bars of New Orleans, the Old Point Bar. Right by the ferry if you want a classic British pint, there's the Crown and Anchor English Pub.

This is a hidden gem for tourists on a budget who want to visit the French Quarter. It is located on the other side of the river and is a 5-minute drive to the ferry to take you to the other side (3-minute trip), from which you can walk/uber a mile to Jackson Square. Or drive 15 minutes back to the square. The room had 2 beds and a kitchenette, plenty of room for 4 people. Everything was clean and kitchen utensils were provided. The front office workers were super friendly and helpful with food/place recommendations. The furniture was a little outdated but that wasn't a problem for me. It is also very close to a waffle house and many stores for grocery shopping/good eating. I would definitely stay here again.
