My experience, with Dr Garrett, Blaze, the receptionist, and the lab technician, was exceptional. I entered her practice, as nervous as a child on their 1st day of school. However, from the beginning to the end of my visit, be it costs or my medical care, ALL concerns were put to ease. Care, concern, and compassion were, effortlessly, expressed by Dr Garrett and her staff. Thank you, dearly!

Today was my last time seeing Dr. Garrett. She has been my PCP for the past four or so years. Truly, I’ve always had a problem with her staff. They’re garbage people who don’t pick up the phone, are rude, incompetent, and have less bedside manner than the dirt on the bottom of my shoe. Despite that, I decided to keep seeing her because it’s a pain to find a PCP accepting new patients. I recently moved out of state and was meeting with Dr. Garrett every few months via telemed so that my prescription can be refilled accordingly. As the last few days of my medications came up, I went to schedule another appointment. Her secretary then advised me that Louisiana no longer allows telemed (a lie) and that I need to find a PCP on my area. Fine. I didn’t appreciate that they failed to inform me of this sooner when they know I live out of state, but whatever, I did just that and found a PCP but couldn’t get in until late June. I called Dr. Garrett’s office and asked if she could give me a call so that I can ask for two months of my prescription until my upcoming appointment in June. FOUR TIMES I had to call and ask. Not once did she return my call. I was down to one pill this morning so I called again. After a 10 minute hold, I was told Dr. Garrett would agree to a telemed “if I paid cash.” Fine. Although I didn’t need a telemed, I just needed a two month refill and why wasn’t I given this option previously to pay in cash, who knows, but clearly no one was listening to me or they didn’t care to. They schedule me for 11:30am today and when the time came, no one called me. I called at 11:45am and asked what was going on to which Brent in the front office told me “well if you raise your voice you aren’t getting your medication” Yes. Her secretary had the nerve to open his month and say this to me. After making me pay $106 for this appointment, Dr. Garrett finally comes to the phone and proceeds to blame me for not finding a new PCP in time. I asked (1) why wasn’t I given advanced notice? And (2) why all of a sudden are you allowing telemed when I was told it’s no longer offered? She haphazardly explains that they “found out” today that telemed is “no longer covered by insurance” and that I can pay out of pocket. This was a lie. Louisiana did not stop telemed and after calling member services for my insurance, I found out that telemed is indeed covered by my plan and that Garrett is in network. Clearly, she didn’t want to deal with me which was evidenced by her lack of concern over the fact that she almost left me without my medication for two months and her failure to even have the courtesy to give me a call. Why she would lie to me about telemed, I have no clue, but regardless on whether she didn’t want to provide that service anymore, it would have been nice to be given a call to advise me. Having to call her office four times to get access to medication she was holding hostage is absolutely intolerable. In short, she’s a hack and a liar, her staff sucks, and she doesn’t care about you unless she can make money off of you. Honestly, I’d rather seek medical services from a back alley clinic than to ever step foot into her office again. Proceed with caution. Good riddance.

Fantastic GP for LGBTQ+ health and routine health checkups. Any negative reviews are more accurately pointing to issues inherent within the American healthcare system. If you’re an adult, and on top of your own healthcare, Dr Garrett is about as good as it gets for doctors in the US and, especially, the South. These other reviews be crazy.

Not only do I feel completely taken care of by this doctor and her staff-- but it is the ONLY med staff and environment that I have ever seen where the atmosphere is FUN. When the staff is happy-- I know the practice is a good one. So glad to have found this doctor-- and I have sent two new patients her way. I will continue to recommend Dr Garrett.

I was a patient here for 5 years and at first it was amazing! The best doctor ever! But then she decided to focus on other things within her practice (med spa, weight loss clinic, cool sculpting, etc) and was only in the office a couple days a week. I started getting pawned off on the NP and it seemed like there was a new NP every visit. The staff is incredibly rude, won't return calls, etc. I could never get an appt to see the actual doctor and my meds got screwed up more than once. I finally had enough and left for another doctor.

This is the worst office and doctor's visit I have ever had. My appointment time was for 10:30am and I was not seen until after noon. Although I had sent in all my paperwork and insurance information over a week ahead of time, no one in the office had processed it and the office staff had me call my insurance to get the appointment approved. Then, my visit with the doctor was rushed and she was very rude and brash. I was holding a list of questions for her and she ignored my request for information. She had my blood drawn even after I told her I had hardly eaten that day and I almost passed out. I tried to ask her at least one question before I left, and she was insulting, condescending, and cold. The office charged me a copay even though the visit was fully covered by my insurance. When I finally got out of there, I sat in my car and cried from being disrespected and from how awful I felt after the blood draw. Now, it's been seven months later and I just found out that their lab sent my bill to collections without ever contacting me. Trying to contact someone to have this resolved has been ridiculously challenging. Be warned!

Dr. Garret was a lovely doctor-but I am astounded that it is okay for the staff to insult the patient calling, hang up on them and then refuse to schedule appointments and send only to voicemail.

After 3 years, I am off to find another PCP. I'm tired of the rude gatekeeper receptionists. I am tired of getting hung up on when the receptionist doesn't want to help me over the phone. I am tired of being put on hold for 15 minutes at a time. I am tired of calling for medication refills and then having to jump through days worth of loops EVERY DAMN MONTH. I'm tired of never being followed up with. I am tired of having my scripts sent to the wrong pharmacies. I'm tired of hearing the receptionist call me names under her breath. I'm tired of not being about to get a 2-minute call back from my own doctor. I am so. damn. tired. Also, who the hell charges for a prior authorization that insurance is asking for on a medication I've been taking for 20 years? $25! just to call the insurance and complete a prior auth. I worked at medical offices before, never charged a patient for that. Unbelievable.

Dr Garret and her staff are harmful to their patients. Despite being vaccinated/boosted/flu shot,, I have caught Omicron. My asthma flares up severely when I am sick. Dr Garret has prescribed my inhalers for yrs. I called this morning to let her staff know that I had Covid and needed a new inhaler. Reception told me, "they would let her know and see what she says". I called back two hours later. They told me she won't fill any prescriptions until clinic is over at 4pm. Typically, her staff are unreachable after 3pm. Then reception added, if I need help I should go to urgent care or ER. Then they hung up on me... which is common for her staff. Urgent cares are either not answering phones right now because they are swamped, or only doing Covid tests. I do not need to go to the ER for a steroid shot/nebulizer. I need my inhaler to avoid such emergencies..... Hence, I need my doctor to do her job. 2nd issue with Dr G. She has also been prescribing me Clonazepam for years. But One day, she flat refused. She said I had been flagged in the prescription monitoring program as a potential risk for overdose. 4 months prior I had a minor surgery and had been prescribed 10 Percocet by my OBGYN. I am very aware of the dangers of combing Percocet and Clonazepam. I do not mix medications. Dr. G refused to budge and her staff told me to call the DEA to fix it. Yes. The DEA. The pharmacy was equally confused. They said my numbers were not at all high and referred me to the Board of Pharmacies. Who also seemed baffled by Dr G's claims. In fact they said that, "In the last TWO YEARS, you've been prescribed 10 Percocet after childbirth, 10 after a Polypectomy and 5 for wisdom teeth extraction. 25 pills for surgeries over the last two years does not read as substance abuse or Potential risk for overdose." . I understand the need for the prescription monitoring system. But Dr. G proceeded to prescribe me Clonazepam for 4 months until I had no painkillers in my system or prescriptions for any. That Is when she claimed I was high risk for overdose. Let's note that my anxiety meds have not changed in dosage for 15 yrs +. The monitoring system is either dangerously delayed or Dr. G is very uneducated on how it works. I tend to lean toward the latter. Because another incident occurred when I was planning on some post baby surgery. Dr Garret demanded to know every detail about my procedure before she would sign my health waver. She again said that I was flagged as a potential overdose. The nurses at the surgery clinic said it was unethical of her. I did not have to divulge any information, other than I was going under general anesthesia. The nurse added that Garret had read the chart wrong. The numbers she read were not associated with risk of overdose. Additionally, Garret was accused me of being prescribed 90 oxycodone! This was false and would have been quite illegal. When Dr. G demanded to know why I was prescribed these pain killers I told her that it was for the upcoming surgery that I am in your office for trying to get medical clearance for! I told her the prescription was not for 90 pills! She didn't believe me. The surgery center verified that fact and suggested I find a new doctor. Dr. G made me feel judged for having surgery and also for being a suspected drug abuser. When Dr. G denies my anxiety meds on a whim it becomes a safety/medical issue. She finally referred me to a different Dr. who now handles my anxiety meds. He and I have had a great doctor/patient relationship. The sad thing is, I know a patient of Dr. G's who WAS addicted to something she prescribed him. He left town, got treatment and is doing much better now that he is out of her care. It seems to me that she picks and chooses who is treated accordingly. The utter lack of concern for my health regarding Covid and my inhalers was the final straw. Her staff are the rudest health personnel I have ever come in contact with. In my opinion Dr Garret has broken her Hippocratic Oath, do no harm. Note: After I wrote this, I got a t

She is refusing to unvaccinated people even with a negative test. What kind of people are next, she is from Mississippi. Ive been a patient for six years. I guess this was a sign she wasn't the best doctor.

TERRIBLE. I had a negative test result from an ultrasound. I called Dr. Garrett's office the day I received the test results and left a voicemail with the test results and asked for a return phone call. Nearly one month later, after countless voicemails and messages left with her receptionists, I have still not spoken with the doctor. Today I had a telemedicine appointment with her. I was left on hold for ten minutes, I called back and insisted on speaking to the doctor. I was then told I had an outstanding balance of $30 and the doctor would not speak with me until I paid.

Stay away. Dr Garrett is a decent Doctor but the office staff is terrible. I've been a patient of her for around 3 years and just got get my yearly physical and blood work from her. I think they don't make enough money from me so now they will not return my calls to make an appointment and also got put on hold for 40 minutes before I finally hang up. Check out some of the same reviews on here abut the staff.
