The lady at the counter was helpful and patient as I sampled perfumes. If you find one you like, they offer many different sizes as well as soaps, bath salts, solid perfumes, etc in that scent! They also send products via mail.

I love that most of the fragrances come in different forms- solid / lotion, soap, linen spray, cologne, solid perfume, etc in addition to classic perfumes. You might need to be a bit assertive to get help but grateful for their help finding scents i love.

Gorgeous boutique in the French Quarter. The scents are amazing. Every product is a work of art. Absolutely loved my experience. Excellent service. Owner took time to tell us about the history of this family owned shop. Would recommend to anyone.

I am obsessed with perfume. I am on websites like nowsmellthis, fragrantica. I know the top notes, etc of my favorite fragrances. Based on articles online, the *only* shop I had to visit during my first trip to New Orleans was this shop. Due to a happily hectic social calendar, my husband and I had to splurge on an Uber to get me to the shop Saturday so I did not walk in 20 minutes before their 5pm closing hour. I have shopped for perfume in the hallowed, immaculate stores of NYC: Bergdorf, Barney's-- but I have never encountered anything like the frosty snobbery of this shop. To smell fragrances, you have a row of paper strips lined up on the counter. They smell like lightly scented.. paper. When I remarked that I was having trouble smelling the scents I was told that the faded scent was more accurate as it represented the drydown. I am familiar with the need for drydown, however, last time I checked I was not made of wood pulp. She offered- as if she was doing me an ENORMOUS favor- to "refresh" these paper strips with anything I might be interested in. Mind you, I am the ONLY customer at the counter. There is one other woman looking at soaps. She looked down at me, and I felt my heart rate accelerate. Started picking up strips, and recalling the names I had noted down from my research. I am here, ready to splurge. I have two AMEX gift cards reserved for this anticipated indulgence! Shopping for scent should be a pleasure. I believe this woman was one of the family who founded the company. What an opportunity for her to educate me, I try mentioning some of the top notes of my favorite scents, and ask what she might suggest. Nope. I feel like the lowest worm as her eyes sweep me with judgement. Suitably cowed, I resume my fruitless sniffing, and involuntarily sigh, "This is so disappointing." Well, that got her attention! She is on me now. The ice queen is indignant. How dare this peasant express disappointment! *These are Historical fragrances* I regretted offending her. So, I persisted. I must prove myself worthy now. (Interesting sales technique?) I ask her to anoint me with a few scents. She does so, and then floats away to straighten up. ( The place looks like a museum.) I make a genuine effort to be friendly, warm her up, connect. When I said I was having trouble distinguishing the different scents, she suggested that I might want to step outside as the range of scents in the shop might be confusing me. So, I did. I held out my arm for my husband to smell. (He fled shortly after I was reprimanded for my disappointment. My husband buys me beautiful, often rare and discontinued scents for me every Christmas, so.. draw your own conclusions here.) He said the scents reminded him of visiting an old age pensioner's home with the Boy Scouts. I had to agree. (I sampled Casa Miro, Heliotrope, Ginger Blanc, and Spanish Moss.) The drydown of these scents did not improve them one bit, by the way. Don't go here-- go to Bourbon French Perfumes on 805 Royal Street. Check out my review.

Unique and skillfully crafted fragrances specific to New Orleans. Many of these scents are historical, since the 1800s.

I have been patronizing this amazing little shop for 47 years! When I was 21, my great aunt hugged me at a family get together. She smelled great and I told her so! A couple of weeks later, I arrived home after work and there was a little package leaning against my front door. It was the perfume my great aunt wore...Hove solid Tea Olive! I have visited NO a couple of times since but not lately. I have always been given THE BEST service and the shop owner, Amy, was super kind and accommodating by adding a little note to a little solid Tea Olive that I recently bought for my great niece who lives in Florida. She's almost 10. She loves it so much that she tucks in under her pillow every night before she goes to sleep! Hopefully, Tea Olive from her great aunt will stir up memories when she is older, just like it has for me! Being able to order online keeps me stocked up on my favorites, Tea Olive, Flame and Louie Quatorze, but there's warm place in my heart now and forever for Tea Olive. Feminine and gorgeous!

One of the fun and great things to do while in New Orleans. Who wouldn't like to have their very own scent? You must make an appointment to do it but they also have other scents to sale if you want to just drop on and check some out while visiting the french quarters.

Somewhere between the magic of New Orleans and my last day shopping, I walked into this shop. It is a breathtaking experience if you've never been. I couldn't decide so I purchased 3 small size bottles which cost me nearly 60 dollars. Of the three , the neroli scent is my favorite. The Diverti and El Captian didnt hold up... couldn't smell a thing 30 mins later. The saleperson was very nice, but I think she may have been a tad misleading in how she described the longevity of the scents. I brought a bar of black soap that was labeled as scented but I didnt smell a thing other than the nutty smell of soap. I wanted to see what the fuss was about Tea Olive... still not sure about that one... it was described as unisex but its not.. In fact it stinks a bit, not in a horrible way but in a natural way. I imagine this smell wisping in the air after the rain on a hot humid day in soneones garden. buyer beware! I want to give this place the benefit of doubt, but Iam having a hard time doing so. I may have gotten too overwhelmed by so many choices that I got it wrong. There is a lot to take in. They should sell samples... either you like the stuff or not and it would be a good way to get new business. I spent 104.00 dollars that day on products. Money is not an object when the quality is there. In my opinion, its not there. I.will try other scents when I visit again

Hove has been a family tradition since my grandmother visited in the 1960s, so getting to go to the shop was such a treat. The shop is just lovely, and there are so many beautiful scents and products from which to choose. My sentimental favorite is Creole Days, but I also loved Carnivale and El Capitan. The owner of the shop was so friendly and patient because we had lots of different scents we wanted to purchase. I would recommend that anyone who loves beautiful fragrances give Hove a try!

Great shop that hasn’t changed much since my grandparents started going there after WWII. There is a reason institutions in New Orleans stick around, because they never grow old. This is a legit perfume shop unlike what you would get at a Marshall fields or Nordstroms. Wonderful local scents that are endearing and complex. Rue Royal, Vetiver, and Creole Days are some of our favorites. Make time to stop in and see why they have been around for so long. Don’t go on the weekends and only tell people you like about this place!!

Such a lovely shop Hove is. I fell in love with the unique scents in here immediately. I heard about the history of this place and wanted to check it out all the more. It has a very old-world charm about it. With so many fascinating choices, it was a tough call. I settled on the Tea Olive for now. I also purchased Vetiver Root, which was a welcomed alternative to store my clothing. It beats the hell out of moth balls. The saleslady Greta was friendly, helpful, and personable. She made us feel welcomed and was very knowledgeable about the products in the store. If you want beautiful and unique fragrances, Hove is definitely the place.
