Good location but small. A long line is not uncommon.

Racist actions -I waited in line. Someone got in line behind me. the person at the register was scrolling on his phone, acting as though he doesn’t see me. Doesn’t greet me.I ask I asked for incense. He’s still on the phone barely present. The man grabs them from above the register on a stool On ONE REGISTER - as he’s still checking me outThe lady next to him obviously seeing I’m there takes the same register and motions for the white male behind me to step in front. They take care of him IN MY FACE as I’m standing at the counter WAITING….. it was evident I was waiting. It took 2 seconds to grab what I asked for. Why would you take another person behind me then make me wait …. When I’m at the counter checking out. Not even a verbal hold on.It’s disrespectful . I walked out. No service. Not even a word my way

Here's the thing about "Ideal Discount 4," if you're going for gas, it's kind of a sketchy little place. The workers there are super friendly, and if you felt like you needed assistance, I'm sure they would give it to you. There is usually a person or two hanging outside; sometimes asking for cash, sometimes just giving you some side-eye. It doesn't always feel like the safest of locations, and yet, it's never once stopped me from going there, and I've never had an issue. I rarely go there for gas, however, I go there for the fried chicken and meat pies. This is New Orleans, after all, and our gas stations often carry better food than the average restaurant elsewhere, so why wouldn't you try it? My favorite is to pick up food before a Saints game to take to friends and enjoy all afternoon. The seasoning on the chicken is amazing, it's generally pretty fresh, and if you're a strips person and want some dipping sauce, they've got you covered for that, too. Even after Hurricane Ida, last year, they worked hard to get things straightened up enough and cleaned out quickly to keep the neighborhood fed and on its feet. Love that can-do attitude!

I have been patronizing this business since 2006. Many changes in management and employees over the years. Some not as bad as others, but rarely has there been a sincerely friendly or appreciative staff member or manager at this location.I used to live about 5 blocks away, near Cabrini, and would go for the gas prices.I had to hold my nose because of the horrible stench, as well as the service, inside. I did that for about 8 years. Sold my house and moved to a different part of town, but still filled my tank there. I have a hard time reading the pump because of the graffiti and the gang tags. No matter what time of day, there are aggressive panhandlers or sketchy people loitering nearby.Lately, I have been filling my tank in the morning at the beginning of the week, and stopping by every weekday evening at the end of my shift (11:30PM) for a soda, bag of chips. It takes me 6 minutes to get there. I asked the man running the place what time he closes, he said midnight...then "maybe 11:45"I am not trying to split hairs, but whenever the old man is not there, a very rude and bitter woman closes the place right when I pull into the parking lot. She knows I am coming at about 11:36 or 11:37.Tonight, I hurried over to this Ideal Discount on Orleans and Moss, just to test a theory. Sure enough, when I arrived a couple minutes early, the establishment was open (all the lights inside and out were one) but the self-hating woman had another employee hurry up and tape a hand-written "CLOSED" sign on the door.I had already parked, and was out of my vehicle headed toward the door before the sign was taped to the glass inside. This is not the first time this rude person has done this to me. Or to others. Every so often there is an NOPD cruiser in the lot when I arrive. A couple of weeks ago, I arrive around 11:40, and the place is "closed". A police officer was already returning from store's door, and told me the place was closed, again. I replied saying, it seems to be closing earlier and earlier. I mention this because more often than not, there is a police cruiser either parked or idling in the lot when I get there, so it is not a safety issue for the employees inside. It is an employee that has no value, nor respect for loyal, paying customers. The business website lists this place as being open 24 hours a day. Another reason to avoid this place like the plague. My coworker stopped buying gas at this location several months ago for the same reason; a bitter, self-loathing rude woman treated him poorly.Me, my coworker, and now my wife will no longer spend money at this establishment. Who knows how many other customers this woman has cost this business?

I visited this gas station after Hurricane Ida and the attendants let me know they only served their families. They would not serve to the public or black people. They had others pumping gas but they were of Arabian decent. Even in the midst of a crisis they were rude and unwilling to help a paying customer. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!

I have a credit card I only use for gas and use it maybe once a month. That card info just got stolen and Ive only used the card once recently, at this station, a few days ago. The gas pumps are hacked I'm guessing. Credit card company and police are looking into it. I called the Ideal Discount number and told them... no apology, didn't really seem to care. AVOID

Watch out! Automatic shutoffs don't work at some of the pumps. Management doesn't care that you're paying for gas pumping on the ground or that this gas could potentially start a fire or go into the bayou. They don't see this as a problem.

This convenience store/gas station is a decent spot to grab some quick gas station style food like fried chicken and other items that are mostly fried or otherwise battered up in some method. They sell adult beverages as well so you can put together a little party of your own here to walk over to the nearby Bayou St. John and have a little picnic party. This is also the area of Bayou St. John that hosts the Bayou Boogaloo fest and this spot is also near Parkway Bakery of po boy fame. The customers here (or sometimes not customers but randos that just hang outside the store) can be on the sketchy side at times so I would just always exercise your appropriate average NOLA area caution when entering or leaving this joint. Overall this establishment has some decent provisioning capacity to meet your food, beverage and fuel needs with about an average NOLA gas station level of sketchy.
