Sweetness has no place at this establishment. I was on the hunt for some sweet treats for my special someone back home, but instead I was faced with the sourpussed woman with blonde hair and a red sweater DEMANDING I shut her front door that was ajar upon my arrival. Walking in I was excited to purchase some confections, however this nasty woman only threw salt. I walked out knowing she just wouldn't get why I left. I've read the previous reviews of her place before posting this and it seems it's time for her to throw in the towel.

When I think of Laura’s Chocolates, my mind immediately thinks of the location on Chartres Street. There are also others spread around the City and today I visited the one on Royal Street. This location is a lot newer and slightly larger than my regular. It is also filled with the same delicious chocolate and other treats that the store is known for. Laura’s is a great place to stop for something sweet or for a gift for someone special.Vegetarian options: Candy is largely non-meatDietary restrictions: Staff will assist with restrictions you make them aware ofParking: Limited on street and several paid garages in the areaKid-friendliness: Fully kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible

This place is the best. It's fun and has broad selection of confectionery. I usually will stop in just for some dark chocolate turtles but found myself getting Rum Pralines for myself and a box of various chocolates and truffles for a friend. Delicious and fresh made on site also !I noticed the salt water taffy selection in the back this last time that I went. There is even a section for special fruit preserves in jars. This is a great place to stop in if you can't find a gift for somebody just FYI.CJ was so friendly! Not sure if it's the sugar but every time I drop in, the staff is always so happy. Enjoy !

This one was my least favorite out of the three that I visited. They had a nice and sweet lady working that day, but they didn't have the touch available. They only had Rum Pralines available but didn't offer any samples. The pralines were good but incredibly sweet just like the lady working there. I would most likely revisit the other two spots I tried before returning here.

Ugh ate the bag of Orange Slices and waiting to hit the Louisiana turtles. Lol. The tourist in front of me were a bit unsure what to get. I think they were from Mississippi as they kept focusing on the Mississippi mud candy. Or maybe they were a fan of "My cousin Vinny" by the way I wonder how the. Chinese food is here. Anyway the clerk was so sweet to the customers and made them laugh with his explanation of how everything was Sugar Free. He clarified. By saying y'all pay for everything else. But the Sugar is Free. Lol. Guess what they had, chocolate covered Twinkies. Probably the last 8 Twinkie's in the state. I have to admit The candy man song did not go through my head. But there were so many candies. I thought I'd say something about this place as I was in another candy place and the workers were more interested in talking gossip instead of helping me.

LISTEN!!! I've had a whole lot of sweet treats in my life. But never have I EVER had anything so heavenly as the chocolate covered toffee squares and the pecan clusters, and the chocolate covered pretzels and the chocolate covered caramel squares. The place is clean, the service is ok. Check the hours of operation before you go. This will be on the must go/ return list. 3 locations, 2 in or near the French Quarter. They close early.

The best pralines ever! Fresh candy chocolates and excellent customer service definitely recommend for sugar lovers. Her prices are relative to the real ingredients they put in the goodies. A must stop in so good I'm going back before leaving Awlins I recommend Laura's for quality shoppers and chocolate candy lovers. Try for yourself go ahead you be the judge.

Delayed review....Brian was awesome and helped me out really well.... Great tasting pralines as well!!!!! He also explained to me what a real praline should be and that nobody makes them that way anymore because they fall apart too easily. The choices there were good and I got a good variety so I can distribute them to my friends and family after I got back from my trip. I know they had other items in the store and it was well laid out but I came for the Pralines specifically and I would recommend trying Laura's !!!!

The shop was clean & cool on a hot day. My favorite was the triple chocolate dipped Oreo. Mmmm... magical! Otherwise, there was nothing extra-ordinary. It was difficult to hear the cashier bc she didn't speak loud enough, so we had to ask her to repeat herself several times.

Very nice collection of chocolate candies. Courteous service. Small and bright. Lots of little knats flying around outside and inside of the things where the candy is kept.

Tourist trap! Laura's Candies is one of the oldest candy shops in New Orleans, but it doesn't mean it's one of the best. In fact, I was very disappointed with my experience there. Over priced for mediocre sweets. Their "famous" pralines were gritty, the nuts were soft and old. While the jellies looked nice, they were no better than the fruit slices in the bulk food section. The rest of the store is made of repackaged sweets found in other stores. The woman working there wasn't knowledgeable about the products, only saying they're delicious, you should buy them all or that they are, in fact, made by someone else so she know nothing about them. While she was "pleasant" the entire time, I just felt it was all fake because we probably weren't her type of customers. Like most tourist traps, it's lipstick on a hog. There are better sweet shops close by that I thought were more genuine. Don't recommend.

Took the kids here and we all had fun selecting various treats from the displays cabinets! From various dipped Oreos, choc cover pretzels, English toffee and jellies, all that we selected were tasty!

Cheerful staff, fantastic service and wonderful assortment of freshly made pralines, jellies, hard candies and fudge. Great place to pick up last minute packaged treats to take home

It is a rare thing for me to leave a bad review, maybe the second time in ten years. Normally, I just chalk up a negative experience to an off day and don't leave a review at all. However, despite reading a few of the negative reviews, I decided to stop in for New Orleans pralines or 'Mississippi Mud' at this mostly highly rated candy store near the Omni. The woman at the counter was actually quite unpleasant. Not to me, but as I stood waiting for a solid ten minutes, I was able to hear her entire conversation with an attractive couple in their mid twenties. I say that specifically, for two reasons, they may not have realized it but she was throwing shade during the whole conversation, with her attitude, and I wouldn't want a sales clerk making insinuations about my "eating it all myself." They were trying to decide what to bring as gifts to family. At one point she said, "just get both kinds, you know you're going to eat them all anyway'. How incredibly rude! So, one star at best for service. Then regarding the chocolate, I bought two pieces. One was the milk chocolate Mississippi mud and one raspberry truffle. The mud only came in a large piece. I had asked if it was the consistency of toffee because it looked incredibly firm. One the other reviews that I had read, said some thing about the caramel oozing out, this gave no appearance of oozing. Instead of being polite, the server said "it's the consistency of chocolate." Well, the piece I received was stale to the point that it wasn't worth the calories. The truffle was quite inedible if one is expecting fine chocolate. The strongest flavor was artificial flavoring. Certainly did not taste like chocolate, but I couldn't identify it as raspberry either- just chemical. Don't patronize this store. Harsh, but I threw both pieces away and spent the time to write this review due to her rudeness to others. Kilwin's may be a chain, but you will walk away with an edible confection.
