Best "hole-in-wall" place to catch live music uptown (other than Tips). Grab a beer at the bar and watch music within a few feet of the artists at this Oak Street bar. This area is an easy decision with Jacquimo's nearby restaurant to round out an evening of excellence -- legit New Orleans food followed by authentic music, an up-town affair. This is a super low key place. If you're worried about your clothing or hair, you're on the wrong mental note. Nobody will see you or care, they are there for the music.

New Orleans' Maple Leaf Bar isn't your typical, swanky jazz club. It's cozy, with a touch of history clinging to its copper-lined walls (which, by the way, create a truly unique soundscape for the music). But what it lacks in poshness, it more than makes up for in authenticity. The act I saw there was phenomenal – top-notch musicians playing with a passion that resonated throughout the room. The vintage instruments added another layer of charm to the experience. If you're looking for an intimate venue where the focus is purely on the music, the Maple Leaf Bar is a must-visit. Just be prepared for a close encounter with some incredible jazz!

Great live music from established groups sometimes, mostly up and coming newer artists trying to make a name for themselves.Great laid back atmosphere, friendly staff.

I love the Maple leaf. Always a great time and you never know who you might run into. Have a drink and be merry. The place is one of the best spots in the city to catch a band and have a great time. They never disappoint.

Great musical acts but bar service was terrible. Not the first time this has happened to me. The tenders were talking to each other and just ignored me. Then when I waived at one, he waived back, yelled "Hi" and then turned his back on me and continued to ignore me. I walked out at that point. Plenty of other places to spend my money. Goodbye Maple Leaf.

Amazing venue for live music! Saw Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen- unforgettable experience. Shout out to Nick, the bartender in the back bar. That’s a guy we all should know. Nick, keep doing what you do. Thank you Maple Leaf and Jon Cleary!!
