My visit to Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site was a delightful experience. After a round of golf, we decided to explore this beautiful place. The air was filled with the sweet scent of flowers, and as we walked through the site, it truly felt like we had entered paradise. It's worth mentioning that the admission fee was $20 per person, which we found to be a reasonable price for the experience. Highly recommend a visit!

Everyone needs to tour Rosedown in order to get a true feeling of the old South. Personnel are very well educated.

My husband and I happened to pass by and decided to visit this plantation. The grounds are gorgeous, it has a very cute gift shop with lots of souvenirs. The main house is a short walk distance with some cool staff on the way. The tour was great, our tour guide was very entertaining and funny. I had a great time, definitely recommend to visit

If you plan on visiting Louisiana, I recommend this place. It's beautiful. I plan on going back in the spring when all the flowers are blooming!Only one thing bothered me during the mansion tour; the tour guide was a young lady. In my opinion, she was a little "strange," and she kept burping throughout the whole tour!

Weird. Very rah rah tour about the family that built the house and how wonderful they were. No mention of the history of the slaves, function of plantation, etc just the house and garden and the family. All very enthusiastic about them. Interesting but approach seemed odd, like tell the history without pom poms if you're not going to touch on slavery.

This is best bang for your buck hands down. The gardens are simply exquisite with care to every detail. The house is magnificent and showcases the artistry and talent of the enslaved individuals who were forced to build a home they themselves could never enjoy. The host Ms Pauline was a walking encyclopedia. I’m going back when I can spend all day in the gardens. It’s that marvelous.

Absolutely loved it! Hidden gem! Only $7 for ground or $12 for grounds and whole house tour! STUNNING! Would totally recommend if you want to feel transported back in time and see 90% of the original furniture in the house! Our tour guide, Sasha, was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of history about the family and house! Lots of pictures as well of the family.

My wife not absolutely loved it. So much of this house is original including the furniture. It is amazing. We have toured dozens of plantations and this is one of the most well preserved. You can tell so much money has been put into the restoration. Excellent job and reasonably priced. Currently owned and ran by the state of Louisiana. At time of this review it is $12 per adult for the house tour. Well worth it. Beautiful gardens. I recommend February or March when the Camellia or azaleas are blooming.

The place was made to seem as if slaves were well taken care of, which wasn't the case in real life. It was almost "whitewashed" in a sense. Something extremely out of the ordinary and very bizarre was seeing a white woman in a wedding dress getting her photos done on the plantation site. It rubbed me funny to know stuff like this still exists in the south.

Loved this place the first time I visited in 2019. Second visit yesterday ( Jan. 2023) was very disappointing. Tour was very rushed. We paid $12 a person for a 10 minute walk through just to hear about the furniture more than anything. We went on the last tour of the day which I DO NOT recommend bc I feel that's why it was so rushed and didn't even have time to ask questions or look around really well. Lots of money to start the tour at 4:00pm and be done by 4:11pm and grounds weren't closing until 5:00pm. Many travel a long way not to fully be able to enjoy the grounds and tour. We left so disappointed yesterday.

Knowledgeable staff, friendly and although the unusually cold temperatures had killed off most of the winter garden foliage the grows were sensational and filled with information, accuracy and beauty.

This is on the Louisiana State list for the African American Heritage Trail and for good reason. They do not white wash the story but are very non-partisan. Lovely state-run museum that gives a guided tour of the house. The grounds are self guided in the tour and comes in the price of admission for the tour. The tour guide was well informed and gave a great tour. A lot of things were original to the house. The grounds were well maintained and quite lovely to walk through. Reasonable admission price. I recommend this to everyone. The grounds are gravel which may be an issue for those who have mobility issues.

Very interesting and beautiful place. I recommend to visit the plantation. But I would like to know more about the slaves that lived there. There is no information about them. This is disappointing.Employee told us that they close in half a hour which made us in a hurry to leave.
