THE SET-UP (why here?) This place was recommended to me by one of the school Principals in the area and it did not disappoint whatsoever! I was told to come to this place over the gas station across the street so I decided why not? I arrived at 10:38am only to find out that they don't open until 11am. Normally I would just leave but I was already shown a menu... specifically the Heart Attack was brought to my attention so I decided to wait around until they opened. THE PLACE The dining area is very small. Only six tables but when you get there at 11am you don't seem to have to fight to get a seat. The outside of the building leaves a lot to be desired aesthetically but this has never derailed me from eating at a place. I love a great dive. THE SERVICE I got to meet the owner and I had a great conversation with her about how long she has been at this location. Very friendly. Very polite. After a little conversation you would have thought that we've know each other forever. If you are experiencing really fast service then keep driving by. Everything here is made to order and made to order means made to wait a few minutes. Now keep in mind that I don't mind waiting for handmade burgers. I will take that over frozen patties any day. THE FOOD I ordered a Cajun Cheeseburger with Bacon as well as the Heart Attack Sandwich. They were very accommodating with service as I order two items knowing that I was only going to eat half the burger and half of the heart attack. The rest was to be boxed up so that I could take my wife the other half for her lunch. The burger was fresh and delicious. Could have been bigger but that's just me being nit-picky. I loved the added touch of the fried jalapeños slices on it! The heart attack was delicious. I inhaled half of it instantly. It could be the perfect hangover remedy! SYNOPSIS- I found a new great place to eat and I will be back again. 5 stars - its definitely worth a try and worth going a little out of the way to enjoy!

We traveled from Long Island NY to the Sugartown cemetery to lay my mother to rest, Jo Annette Iles. I had thought we’d travel to DeRitter to have lunch before heading back, but my uncle said there was a 5 star restaurant at the end of the road. Considering we were in the middle of nowhere, we thought he was kidding! Reluctantly we headed in and we’re happy to see that it was clean inside and we were greeted quickly by the wonderfully friendly owner. The food was absolutely delicious and the service couldn’t have been better. We all agreed that it was the best sweet tea we ever had! We shared fried pickles and fried jalapeños and between the five of us had pulled pork bowl, a couple of big juicy cheeseburgers, a club sandwich and a BLT. Everything was hot, crispy, well made and fantastic. Congratulations on the success of this little cafe. I look forward to coming back next time I’m down to visit my family!

I asked down the street at a convenience store for a daiquiri shop and was advised that the Valero had a drive thru daiquiri shop. If I hadn't been told it did, I worked have missed the drive thru part. I got the mango banana piña colada with an extra shot and it was yummy but definitely not strong. A nice daiquiri though

If you are heading to Sugartown for watermelons at the end of June, stop here! If you are looking for a hand patted burger with a REAL tomato, stop here! If you like locals offering advice on what’s good/customers being able to suggest new menu items/sitting near a local shrimper so you can also order fresh gulf shrimp on your way out/, and having fishing lures, etc. for sale, stop here! Don’t come if you need white tablecloths, but if you want really good food served by mother-daughter team owners/waitress/cook/bottle washer/busboy and really warm, friendly service…you Must stop here. Oh…they have been hurt by Hurricane Laura, a flood, an ice storm and shut down for a pandemic so PLEASE tip well.
