Hubby and I stayed here in an Executive King Suite for three nights on January 26-29, 2023. This is a room in a cabin, not in the house. The room was in a terrible state of disrepair. Curtains were ripped and hanging from the rod, the bathroom faucet was missing the knob to pull up the sink stopper, the bedside lamp was rendered useless because the knob to turn it on was missing, the bathtub barely drained, and the heater in the room was broken, etc., etc. Yes, there was a kitchen with absolutely nothing in it except a cheap coffee maker, toaster, two pots, and one pan. No silverware, no glasses, no plates, no cups - nothing. The restaurant was closed, and the closest provisions are about 12 minutes away. The lady at the front desk apologized and said they would be shutting down soon for renovations. I will say that the bed was comfy and the sheets and towels were fresh and clean. That's about it. Don't stay here until any renovations are complete. Such a shame because the house and grounds are lovely.

My name is Charby Novak. On 12-23-22 my daughter and I checked into Nottoway to spend the night. It was 27 degrees outside. I was immediately on signing in charged $303.66. No receipt. Our room heater would NOT work. The desk clerk came and tried and said to wait. 1 1/2 hours later no heat. She left at 5:00 after telling us she was there until 6:00. NO ONE in office even though we waited til 7;30 in the office!!!. Another lady came in the office and said she was staying in one of the cottages and the heat WAS NOT working. I finally went and found the night manager who was back in the restaurant kitchen and he said he had no power to refund me. We left and went to the Sheraton in New Orleans. I called the next morning and they were TOTALLY UNCOOPERATIVE!!!!! Lied and said we could have stayed in cottage which was warm! I'm presently working with my credit card to dispute the bill. My rating is F- which is not on here!!!

The grounds at Nottaway, and the home itself is beautiful and quite impressive. Unfortunately they are dreadfully unorganized and do not adhere to their tour schedule. My family called to confirm tour times the day before we planned to visit, but after driving nearly 2 hours to explore the estate, we were informed by a rather flippant employee that all of the days tours had been canceled. It is a fun place to visit, but their lack of organization and professionalism was incredibly disappointing.

Great tour. The food is horrible! Fish so overcooked & over salted. Soup served in a 1/2 cup serving. Very sad from what it used to be. Great tour. The food is horrible.

Stayed here one night on our way to Florida with my husband and 5 yo daughter. We had reserved the king suite but were contacted day before that AC was not working. So we had to do the two queens instead. They let us check in early. Property and grounds were beautiful. They didn't have tours at this time. However we were able to meander through freely and were surprised that things were not roped off. It was mostly in good condition. Outdoor area needed some attention. Rose garden bushes were overgrown and looked like roses needed fertilizer as not growing well. Pool area was locked and looked small and sleepy. Loved the 100 plus year old oak trees. Many good photo opportunities and not crowded at all. There is a small one room museum which was interesting and had a lot of reading materials and a few relics. Adjacent theater movie played sound but no picture. Room itself was modern but maintained the look and elegance of the mansion. Beds were very comfy. AC kept the room cool. We had a small fridge but disappointed no microwave or tea. Just a coffee maker. Also no shampoo or conditioner. Just hand soap. We didn't ask for it though. Room was a little dirty. Found clumps of hair on the floor and a few small bugs. It was quiet outside except for loud DJ playing for wedding until around 11 pm. Sugar cane field right behind us. Could hear birds in the morning. Parking so convenient right outside and free. It seemed safe and classy crowd there. Went to restaurant for dinner. Limited menu options and no kids menu. Prices were reasonable. I had strawberry salad which was excellent. Husband had etoufee which was good. Daughter had red beans and rice and surprisingly ate some which is good for her as she's a picky eater. Sticky shrimp appetizer was more like general Tao shrimp with sweet and sour sauce. Didn't care for it. Pecan pie was best I ever had. All and all this is a real gem of a place. Surprised it's still standing after civil war and restored after several centuries. So felt like a real privilege to stay here.

The American Queen could not dock in Baton Rouge due to low water levels. Notoway was the substitute port. We toured the slave built house. Our guide was excellent. The troubling part was the resort closed in early 2020 and the deferred maintenance on the 1859 house and surrounding buildings and property is self- evident. The pond and pool are full of scum and bugs. The gift shop smells musty. The rooms are all boarded up. The tennis court is sinking. Paint is peeling everywhere. I don't see it opening again without costly repairs.

The verde team did hair and makeup for my wedding and wedding party (10 total). Not only were they early to set up, they made sure they did not rush and still had us all looking fabulous and on time. My hair and makeup stayed perfect all night. Can’t thank y’all enough!

Drove out there and they are closed due to COVID. We were able to walk around to to the house but that was all. Make sure you call first and verify they are open.

Food was absolutely delicious. I ordered Redfish Menieure, something I hadn't tried before. It was well blackened. I tried the bread pudding, one of the homemade desserts crepe broulee was the other. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Service was fast efficient and very friendly. Great place.

Had the Thanksgiving buffet and it was beyond excellent. The room that we had for two nights was not a value play. A bit on the pricey side at $300+. Would do the buffet again, but not the room.
