About Viles Arboretum
Viles Arboretum is a 224-acre, no-fee botanical garden located in Maine’s Capital City. It features 6 miles of trails, a visitor center, gift shop, and excellent wildlife viewing. The trails are good for hiking, dog walking, and bird watching, with many educational plaques and QR code maps throughout. While some forested trail portions can be difficult and not handicap accessible, most trails through the grassy areas are great for the whole family. It is a nice place to explore, with new trails and signage added. Visitors can see wildlife like a Great Blue Heron, and dogs are allowed on leash. The arboretum also hosts rotating programs and events. After rain, paths can become overly sloshy. Overall, it is a cute, inspirational place for walking, picnics, and enjoying the outdoors.

I come to Viles Arboretum about once a month to hike, which I enjoy. However, I wanted to comment on my recent experience in the new barn! David went above and beyond for the Project WILD event to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. He had tremendous enthusiasm as a facilitator.
