Beware – Faulty Payment System and Unwarranted Police Reports
I had a very upsetting experience at this gas station. I went there to pump gas, scanned my debit card at the pump like usual, filled up, and left – everything seemed completely normal. The next day, a police officer showed up at my door saying the gas station reported that I had stolen gas.
Long story short, Bath PD informed me that this location has had ongoing issues with their payment system. Apparently, the system will sometimes appear to process your payment at the pump, allowing you to get gas as if everything is fine, but then it doesn't actually charge your card. Instead of notifying customers or addressing the issue internally, the store calls the police and accuses people of theft.
This caused me a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. I had no idea there was an issue until the officer told me. As soon as I heard, I double-checked my account and saw no charge, then went back and paid immediately. I’ve never heard of a gas station letting you pump gas without prepaying or successfully scanning your card, so how would anyone know?
This situation could’ve been handled with a simple phone call or notification. Instead, the store escalated it to law enforcement over what was clearly a technical problem on their end. Be very careful if you choose to use this gas station – double check your charges and receipts.

This is my go to place, and it’s usually great, but today the cashier, Cyrus, asked me if I had cats. I said yes and asked him if I looked like a cat person and he said no, you smell like kitty litter. Not cool.

I use to enjoy comming to this store up until today.. I buy my cigarettes here time to time and usually when I come in it’s the young blond curly haired boy that checks me out.. well today when I went in to buy my cigarettes I gave him my I.D Like Usual an may I remind you he has never questioned my I.D before.. well today he tried to say he couldn’t serve me because my I.D was forged!?? He didn’t try to scan it or anything. So I asked for the person above him. When the manager came over, he even ask the kid if he scanned it first.. the kid said no.. so he proceeded to scan my I.D an it went through. An I got my cigarettes. I don’t know what’s more embarrassing, the allegation that I forged my I.D or the kid looking stupid when he got proven wrong. I Will never come back to this store. If u are from outta state, do not come to this store they will discriminate against you an lie on you!

I was liking this store since we first got to Maine. We are new residence in the area from Virginia & this man with Ginger or blonde hair asked for my girlfriends ID due to her buying liquor, I did not touch the liquor or anything was just standing by her and he asked me for my ID. I am over 25 but still technically if someone is with someone buying liquor standing by them and haven’t touched any liquor then they have no right asking for your ID. So while I was grabbing my ID I said oh wow I don’t like this store and he takes the liquor from her and says you can go ahead & have a good day. & told us to move cause he had other people in line. We’ve NEVER not once experienced that until we went to Big Apple. That man was really a racist white man & he need to be fired from there because that was horrible customer service. We did nothing wrong, I made a comment and we got denied service is ridiculous.

Definitely won’t be going back. I gave them $20 for gas didn’t pump it came back in and I had to repay the $20 in gas. They said they would take care of it for me and it’s been a week so far and I haven’t seen my money back, definitely don’t have any interest in going to a place that steals from customers I highly recommend finding somewhere else to go. I most certainly won’t be doing it anymore.

Pumps and store are randomly closed an obscene amount in the past month, I can understand the ice storm being disastrous but it has happened on normal days when there are no excuses and that is a big bummer. Nothing makes a customer upset more than being rudely talked to/gestured at while actively finding out the pumps aren't working and the store is closed.

My boyfriend went in to pay for gas and other things (cigarettes, snacks, etc.) while I waited at the pump. After we pump our gas, which took only a couple minutes, we were leaving when the cashier ran out in front of my moving vehicle demanding we pay for the gas we *just* bought a couple minutes ago. After causing that huge scene and embarrassing me and my partner, I pulled into a parking spot and went inside to figure out what was going on. He argued that he authorized a pump before payment for us, which I said doesn’t make any sense given we were just in here buying other stuff too. Turns out it was a mistake on his end, and he wouldn’t even look me in the eye and say sorry for running in front of my car and causing a scene. Idk what happened to big Apple recently, but it’s gone downhill SO bad and they aren’t even humble enough to apologize for a mistake like that.

Absolutely the worst customer service I've seen in any local convenience store! Every single visit I regret stopping there. Tonight while 7 people are standing in line the only cashier was busy texting on her phone. Next time I'll be sure to drive out of my way to avoid that nonsense.

People waiting in line for 30 minutes... How convenient is that? Ridiculous! Every time I come here. Hire some help and open another register or replace the management!
