Dr. Caputo, Brittney, Ernie…they are the best of the best. The staff are caring, smart, helpful and just plain invested in what they do. Couldn’t be more grateful for the care our elderly dogs received.

I can't believe these money hungry jerks kept my deposit when I couldn't make my appointment. Will research other vets. How disappointing

For the better part of the last decade I have stuck it out with this veterinary hospital. Dr. Sarah Caputo sets a poor tone within this establishment. Techs and reception folks have come and gone regularly over the years with the exception of a long term team member or two who have always been kind. Various staff have provided very caring and professional service, while others have not- it's the usual grab-bag of human experiences/interactions. But my encounters with Dr. Caputo have been consistently and unequivocally unpleasant. The culture of the workplace that Dr. Caputo cultivates is unfortunate. I've been glad for the individuals who have made visits pleasant and balanced that out over the years.

Unconscionable behavior from these people I have a rabbit that can barely breathe with blue gums and a blue tongue they refused us saying they had already had two other emergencies this morning. Every single place around that deals with rabbits has refused us I guess our rabbit gets to die in front of our children thanks so helpful and caring of you shame on you An emergency is just that an emergency

Its concerning to me that Belfast (and surrounding areas) have 5 animal vets and NOT one of them are accepting new patients. How is anyone able to get regular check ups for their new animals? My parents have a 13 year old dog that they would like to have checked by a vet for heart problems and possible diabetes...this dog was a patient of Belfast Vet until 7 years ago when my parents moved to Florida. They now live in Florida 6 months and in Maine 6 months. We call up Belfast Vet to have her looked at and they tell us she is not longer a patient, its been too long. Even though they saw her every year from when she was 8 weeks old until she was 7. I explained that we just needed her checked, didn't really need to be a full on new patient, just an old one revisiting. They refused! I re-explained that we think she might be having heart issues or diabetes and just wanted her tested to confirm or deny so we can make decisions on how to best care for her. We were directed to go to an emergency clinic that was FORTY MILES AWAY. I explained its not an emergency, its just an office visit because my mom and the dog will nor be back to Florida (to see vet) until September and that is too long and the dog could be suffering or die. After being EXTREMELY disappointed by Belfast Vet, in then called the other vets...little River, Blake, Seasport, and not ONE OF THEM are accepting new patients. Not one them would listen to what we had occurring and offered to help. Our only option is too spend a crazy amount of time and money to go out of Waldo County and pay for an emergency vet.For a town and county that spend so much of their funds and prides themselves on a displaying a loving, kind, and nurturing environment it must not be geared toward animals because clearly the vets in the area do not care nor have time. Then I wonder...have other vets tried to open shop in the area and get denied based on Belfasts standards of shops and business? Why is there a lack if vets in Waldo County? Why do the vets not come up with a solution to a clear and distinct problem? Why do the vets not have the compassion for an animal in need?I just hope that my moms baby Ellie is able to survive the next few weeks between now and September when we can get her down here to Florida where the vets are aplenty and would go above and beyond for a dog thatbis clearly suffering.Do better Belfast!

The crew that works here are true animal lovers of all kind. They are patient and understanding with individual needs and take time to answer questions regardless of how busy they are (and they are always busy). My dogs have always been treated with love, respect, and gentleness from the team there. It has a family farm feel to the place and I love that I never know what animal I am going to see coming and going. Dr. Caputo is authentic and genuine and so grateful for her service.

All I have to say is, Dr. Sarah's father, Frank, and his friend Mike, would be ashamed of the current office procedures. I had my beloved 18 year old cat put to sleep yesterday, and Dr. Sarah never even said she was sorry for my loss. Never again! I'll be seeking another Vet for my remaining cats from now on!

Four star for no other reason than we are dealing with virus and building a relationship between the doc , us , and our pup is hard without personal Interface. We did, however, have a great initial visit and my pup Susie, agreed. Doc Caputo has an efficient system set up as do other animal and people docs which will improve this year, I'm sure. We were also extremely fortunate to even get an appointment. There has been a huge uptick in population of pets and new residents like us coming from Connecticut. Doc Caputo came out with our pup at the end and provided us with a comprehensive report and plans for the future. We're very pleased with the Doc and her friendly staff. Seems that everyone in Maine is friendly and the Belfast Veterinary Hospital is no exception.
