Boothbay is a great town for shopping, the Coastal Botanical Gardens and beautiful sunsets. Several islands are available by ferry such as Squirrel Island and Cabbage Island which have the best Clam Bake with lobster and a very full meal--oh so good.
The town was a little damp since they have had so much rain but it make the Coastal Botanical Gardens unusually lush and fun.
We spend a week at an Airbnb so we could do some cooking--had fun at several thrift shops in the area--just so many things to easily keep one entertained for a week

Very kind and knowledgable staff - we enjoyed our visit. The lighthouse lens was a high point and the stories about past residents of the town.

This small building is packed with tons of local information and displays. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. I could spend hours going thru merchant journals or a quick visit to see the latest displays. Hours are limited check out the website first for open hours.

Very interesting, though small museum of Boothbay history, from prehistorical peoples forward. Also got excellent help from the resident historian who guided us through the well-organized genealogical records and files. What a treasure trove.
