I love Hammond if you think walking into HD or Lowes that you'll get the help and knowledge that Hammond provides think again. From there order dept to the paint dept there extremely helpful. Most times if you don't find it ask someone most likely they can get it for you. So if your looking for building supplies paint etc before going to that big box store, stop into a maine owned company you won't be disappointed and will leave happy.

I absolutely hate having to purchase something at Hammond's in Boothbay. I do it only as a convenience. When you enter this store you are never greeted, the numerous employees continue to look down at their desks, doing nothing of note. Someone has set up a rope system, absurd spacing and thick plexi-glass barriers making it even harder to do business here. The prospect of catching covid is equivalent to catching a good deal here. Even the cashier seems to have forgotten to smile or say thank you during my numerous visits there. Now, if it were reasonably priced, I could put up with all the cold shoulders, but, not surprisingly, it's not. I drive to Hancock lumber in Damariscotta and save $$$ and receive a welcome smile. I give Hammond's yard guys a 5 star rating but stay away from the sales office !

This is a busy store or seems to be. If you need something for a project, call ahead to be sure they have it. If they don't, they are more than happy to order it. On another note, be sure to count your change to keep them honest. I recently made the mistake of just putting it in my pocket without counting it only to realize I was shorted. When I immediately returned the cashier was on break. I mentioned there was a mistake and they reluctantly counted the drawer to find no discrepancies. I then realized it wasn't a mistake. I paid a $51 bill, breaking a $100 only to find instead of receiving $49 I recieved $29.
