This facility has the bones but no flesh. The place is very dated, has a musky smell throughout, needs a paint job, has only two Cabernets and one is not available, and ran out of lobster in MAINE. It’s sad because the place has such potential with the beautiful view and lovely landscaping…if only they would invest in updating and renovating. Their staff is limited, they have no concierge and they cancel events like s’mores for the kids with no explanation. Maybe they ran out of marshmallows. We were so looking forward to this stay and were VERY disappointed. Definitely not worth the money 😞

Overall, this is a nice place -- if you like hanging out with the families of toddlers. The amenities are decent, but as with so many of these old school resorts, their heyday is in the past, and some TLC would be helpful. It has a very nice feel but the number of children running around at 6:30am was notable.
The pools were nice, especially if you like interacting with other people's children.
The clay tennis courts were fun to play in, but be ready to do some maintenance yourself -- watering and weeding the courts was helpful keeping the dust and flora down.
The service was okay. The bartender could clearly read a recipe but likely didn't really know how a cocktail was meant to taste, and taste that wine to make sure that it's still good before the waiter walks off.
The room was nice. Big bathroom. Comfy beds, plenty of space, and a little patio with a view of the water. No complaints. And the view was great -- morning and evening were really magical with views across the sound.
The forests and trails were really, really nice. Very alive and truly wonderful for a walk morning or evening. Absolutely walk through the forest if you go.
A legit 4 out of 5. Probably closer to 5 stars for folks with kids.

“Resort” is located with a beautiful view but only accessible by car with nothing in walking distance. Other than view resort is completely dated and needs a makeover. Skylight in room over bed allows light at 4am, furnishings old and not quaintly old. Advertises tennis in data, not needed but pics will show. Chose partial view as it was what was available, if you stood on your toes and leaned over railing u might see water.

Not our best experience at Spruce Point.

The Spruce Point Inn is a beautiful retreat in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. There is a main house and many beautiful stand-alone cabins as well. They have two pools, one is at the ocean's edge. They also have a hot tub, 2 restaurants, outdoor games, a campfire and much more! We loved this place and will be back!

Stayed for a long weekend. Great place for dogs. Lots of places to walk. However, if you don’t have kids then don’t come here. Loud kids running around. The walls are very thin. Can literally hear kids whining and conversations, pounding sounds at 7am. Our room was a single with queen bed. Loved the rustic look and feel but there were ants in our room. Close to town and there is a shuttle to town. Water views from the walking paths are beautiful but the noise was too much.

Girls week with one friend. We stayed in the main inn. The room is older with a New England charm. We loved the spa; had wonderful massages. the location is fantastic. The grounds are beautiful and I enjoyed our meals at the restaurants. The shuttle was wonderful as I transported us to and fro town center when we didn’t want to drive.

Spruce Point Inn has all the makings of a magical destination, but sadly, it falls short in nearly every way except its stunning location and well-manicured lawn.
The property itself is undeniably beautiful, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful setting. The grounds have so much potential to deliver a truly special experience. However, the lack of upkeep and attention to detail is glaring. While the lawn is pristine, the rest of the property feels neglected and run down. Peeling paint, outdated furnishings, and an overall air of disrepair make it hard to enjoy what could be a charming escape.
The service is, unfortunately, some of the worst I’ve encountered. Staff seemed disorganized and uninterested in providing a welcoming experience. Requests were met with either confusion or indifference, and it often felt like guests were more of an inconvenience than a priority.
The food is another major disappointment. Calling it inedible is not an exaggeration. It’s hard to understand how a property with such a prime setting can deliver such poor dining experiences. With no real alternatives nearby, this was a particularly frustrating aspect of the stay.
In summary, Spruce Point Inn is a classic example of unrealized potential (or private equity investment gone wrong). The beautiful property deserves much better management and attention to guest experience. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend this destination. Such a shame for a place that could be so much more.

We arrive for a wedding party hosted by the inn and our rooms weren't ready. Nobody offered anywhere to change. My wife and I changed in the parking lot. The room still weren't ready well after check-in time and then they tried to joke about it when they finally handed us the keys 2 hours after check-in the room that we were told we were going to get a nice private unit by where the reception was being held was incorrect. They had us in a townhome situation that smelled mildewy sandwiched in between a bunch of other units and under another unit so there was no privacy and it was noisy. Another of the group in our wedding party literally had dog feces on the floor that they had to request someone come and clean up so the cleanliness standards are next to none. The staff seemed miserable. Clearly do not like their jobs which usually speaks to poor management. I've worked for many hotels and still work for two hotels in Portland and can say that this was the single worst hotel experience I've ever had. Now the location is gorgeous. You can't fault them for that but during the photo shoots we were asked to take everything out of our pockets and I left behind a pair of sunglasses that disappeared nowhere to be found. So that was the icing on the cake on our overpriced stay. Next time I visit boothbay I would not even consider this location

We had high hopes for our stay, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. Our room was outdated, dirty, and smelled strongly of urine. When we raised the issue with the staff, they seemed indifferent, more focused on accommodating a wedding rather than addressing our concerns. To make matters worse, most of the amenities, including the restaurant and bar, were closed for the wedding, which we were not informed of beforehand. After a long drive from Bar Harbor, we couldn’t even relax with a meal or a drink.
We ended up leaving and staying elsewhere, which turned out to be much cleaner, friendlier, and far cheaper. To top it off, they wouldn’t cancel the charges for the room, so now I have to deal with it through my credit card. Spruce Point Inn’s service definitely did not make up for the inconvenience. I would not recommend staying here, especially if they have an event going on.

We had 4 glorious days here. Weather was perfect- & of course almost everything here is weather dependent so we got lucky. There were 6 of us- parents & 2 daughters with boyfriends. Oh, & 2 dogs! We took as much advantage of the amenities as we could & still didn't get to everything they offer. We kayaked, swam in the ocean & pool, used the hot tub, hiked the trails, ate well, played horseshoes, took a boat ride, walked/took shuttle to town, & simply enjoyed the scenery. It is expensive, but inclusive. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again!

SPI is always a place at heart to my family with the amazing amenities the hotel and resort is able to offer, the room was great besides the fact that their was a nasty stain on the bed skirt which housekeeping appears that they did not notice however everyone makes mistakes, it would be nice if they supplied plain fishing pools along with the ability to put worm bait into it, the current semi bait they have is indeed not effective, my son wished the dock would not make weird noises and also was attached to the ocean ground well but their is nothing you can do once it’s already been constructed easily. 🧐
Over all great vacation, hotel could also add some newer non rusted locks too and I wish the bathrooms were bigger however cons aside great pro vacation.

This is an old worn property. Our room was more like an old tiny cabin; dirty bathroom walls, toilet cramped, front door broken, porch has never been cleaned and dirty towel and trash ignored by staff over our balcony. Horrible breakfast. Excellent bartenders and drinks. Beautiful views from our porch. Lots of young families and kids running around. Wonderful walking trail. Front desk staff is very nice. I never did see any management, only seasonal workers from Jamaica and Romania.
