We had a great experience with the storage unit. We stored our motorcycle there and we felt that it would be safe there and the staff was amazing. They took the time to explain where and how the bike would be stored and let us know we could get it as soon as we wanted to in the spring. I would highly recommend the facilities!

I am rather delayed on this review but still compelled to leave it - not to slander the business, but to protect others from the service we received, as well as the damages to personal property without compensation despite paying a monthly insurance fee onto the storage bill.
I really wanted to like these guys & thought I did - initially had a great intro with Dylan who said that they had also bought Coastal Boatworks, a once beautiful & thriving business I was proud to work for (& live onsite) for years; the previous owners were like my Maine parents. That said, they treated & protected every asset upon it like their own - which, sadly, I cannot say when it comes to the newer owners. So while this review is a couple years after our experience (April-August 2023), it still bothers me & I am compelled to share it.
While we have not stored a boat or commissioned anything at Coastal Boatworks, we have easily withstood about $2k in property damage from the same owners of Boothbay Self Storage, to be told that they cannot control the Maine weather & that the storage units are not climate controlled. Despite paying a monthly insurance fee on all of our furniture & belongings between a rental & buying our own property, this business did nothing when they failed what they promised & we thought we were paying for: safe storage.
Rain & melting snow were visibly leaking through the back of our unit, causing our guns & metals to rust & wooden furniture to mold, to the point that actual algae (or green bacteria?) was growing on the legs of our $2500 couches. I wish I wrote this sooner to prevent similar abuses of contracts, trust, & money exchange.
Still, I realize that Dylan promised us their units were super secure with their cameras & monitoring, without discussing actual weather security of the units themselves - so that’s on us. But for those considering giving them their business, please consider that they assume no responsibility for weather proofing or lack thereof damaging your property.
I love to support local entrepreneurs but in the case of Boothbay Self Storage & Coastal Boatworks since it’s been sold - Buyers beware👍

I can’t say enough about this facility. Customer service is top notch, quick to respond, always willing to help always a friendly face. Clean and neat, always plowed and shoveled. Great place!

I can’t say enough good about Boothbay self storage! We rented a unit this summer from May through Sept 2023 for our house renovation; 2/3 of our household was in our basement and a 1/3 in the storage unit. The Midcoast had a VERY rainy summer this year and almost all of our basement furnishings and items stored in closed cardboard boxes got super moldy! (That has not happened in previous years) but the items stored in the Boothbay self storage units were fresh and clean! I can’t thank them enough and sincerely could not have been happier with their units and with their service, they made everything so easy. I recommend them above any other storage unit I’ve ever used.

Easy to find clean and well cared for. Always plowed and easy to get to your locker. The upper part can be crowded to get into in the mornings
