Great bookstore. Staff is beyond helpful . The books are varied, and authors are too. And, if they don't have what you are looking for, they will get it for you. This local gem is worth a visit!

My husband grew up in Topsham and graduated from Brunswick HS in 1965. We will celebrate our 45rh wedding anniversary this fall. Gulf of Maine Books has been our essential stop for decades. Books for us, for our son when he was a child, and now for our granddaughters. Two of the three chose their own book(s) this year, and our 7 year old lover of all creatures great and small was thrilled to see photos of your donkeys. Our youngest at one year old is enjoying the books previously chosen by her sisters. Shop local and bring your children when they are young! It is amazing what you and they can find!

Very interesting book shop. It's a not a health care facility and so it doesn't accept insurance, but masks are required.

My wife and I were excited to spend the afternoon in Brunswick today and had our sites set on supporting local businesses. A local book store fits squarely in what we were looking to patronize and we're excited to go to Gulf of Maine Books. We reached to open the door and were met by a sign that read "Masks, please." My wife and I are both quadruple vaccinated. It's late August of 2022. I've long ago stopped carrying a mask in my pocket. The older couple in front of us entered without masks, but I don't want to be that guy who ignores the wishes of a business owner. We didn't go in and went to some other shops where we bought various items. On our way home, we stopped at Books a Million and bought the two books that we were hoping to buy from a local business. What a shame. I don't want to leave any stars because I don't think that it's fair to hit them with one star being that we didn't go in. However, that's my only option because I have nothing to go on other than me being unwelcome without a mask.

Posted hours say open at 10 on Monday. At 10:30 it was locked and dark. We have no patience for this. If you don’t have staff or have some other issue, you post a sign or ask someone to do it for you. This was the one place we were told we could get regular postcards. We are leaving the area today, so no more chances. Very disappointing.

Buyer beware! Not a good place! Utilizing their store front to voice ugly political and religious opinions, to include the military, who fought for their rights! Not the place! As I listened silently to many conversations going on, this owner Definitely fits the description of arrogance! He needs to put others down, to what he thinks makes him better! A true adult bully! Arrogance can be defined as the personality trait whereby a person has an obnoxiously elevated sense of self-worth. An arrogant person is the one who acts as if they're superior, more worthy, and more important than others. Therefore, they tend to disrespect and put others down. At the same time, they want admiration and respect from others.

What a great bookstore? Gary Lawless works very hard for his customers, offering advice and contacts to readers and writers alike. He and his wife know books inside and out, and are offering personal service you won't get from Amazon.

Such a wonderful spot. If you like poetry this store has an unusually large and dynamic section.
