This is a fine bookstore, and thank you to Curtis Memorial Library for making it available. Where else can you buy very good used hard cover books for $4? Paperbacks as low as $1? The range of books on offer is substantial and of course, the inventory varies every day. If you are into the classics or the latest from your favorite author, there is a good chance you will eventually find it here for a song. The shelves are well organized and labeled, and the volunteers who run the shop are so pleasant. My wife and I stop often and keep our To Read shelves well stocked thanks to this gem!

Donate books at your own risk! You might meet the meanest old snipe in the Northeast! She grabs and opens your book donations with such a zeal for insulting the public, and such high hopes to turn you away, as if no one else can appraise a book, let alone enjoy its purpose. One first edition storybook had a twenty-year-old crayon mark on the end page. “Don’t ever write in a book!” the crone screeched for no purpose whatsoever, just like the strange little trinket, a toy monkey, worn on her shoulder. There’s often a valuable find in this plentiful shop - or two or three! I love finding a jackpot of four books worth at least $150 together, then going to the cashier table where the vinegary clerk is lurking, and watching her discover my fantastic $2 apiece finds with such gasps of annoyance. Where does humanity go? With some of us elders you’d find more warmth in an app. Meanwhile, a cringing co-worker mouths from behind her, contorting like Edvard Munch’s The Scream as she mouths to me, “I’m sorry! My boss is really mean!” As if they’ll never get over their surprise at her rude manners. It’s like a vaudeville skit.

Even though I live an hour away, it’s one of my favorite bookstores! The ladies (all volunteers) are so amazing and inviting. I’ve gone during sales and I always find something good.

Thoroughly enjoyed this bookstore. Came in to find a particular title, which unfortunately they didn't have, but the ladies working here were so friendly and helpful that I ended up buying two other books. Would have spent more time but was with my impatient daughter! Love used bookshops for just browsing and I always find something unexpected. Prices here were very reasonable and the store was well organized. Especially appreciated their Maine sections full of books about Maine and written by Maine authors. Will definitely be back.

My absolute favorite bookstore. Every time I come to Brunswick I have to stop in and walk out with an armful of wonderful, inexpensive treasures.

I miss the old book fair the friends used to produce each spring. But this is almost as good. That being said, I must say that this is one of the better library friends bookstores, considering its proximity to Bowdoin College, they have a strong selection of good literature.
