“What a little gem we stumbled upon hidden away just west of "downtown" Stonington! A neat little shop hidden behind a house on the waterside. A nice selection of books and gifts as well as some artwork. Not all the usual junk found in a lot of tourist traps. Yes there are things like post cards and playing cards but a nice selection of books and some cute Christmas cards also. It was formerly a blacksmith shop and had been in the family since 1902.”

“I’ve been coming here for years. Love their selection of artsy wearables (FLAX - linen can’t be beat!) jewelry and other giftable items. When visiting my Maine family it’s a must stop here. Stonington is so picturesque on the water where the lobster boats come in and there are great restaurants to please everyone!”

“Like the change of the seasons you can always count on the wonderful people at Sleigh Bells. Whether it is ten lobster to go or a new collar for the dog created by a local artist you will find it and enjoy every minute of being there. Thank you and see you next year.”
“I remember going in here as a kid and getting the “Swedish fish” penny candy and other candy for a penny or a nickel. My goodness, that was a long time ago lol! The sweet lady who ran it for such a long time really made the shop what it was. She always remembered her customers, and was so patient and caring towards children. It is now run by a lovely couple who are doing a great job with keeping the charm of it going. Candy is a bubbly woman who always says something to make me smile or laugh and is a joy to talk with. Her husband is kind and friendly, and often is often sitting behind the counter beautifully playing oldies on his lovely sounding guitar. Thank you both for keeping an “island icon” going! It is enjoyed by locals as much as “people from away.””
