We just had our first visit with our dogs after moving to Maine. Dr. Jones and her staff were incredibly friendly and professional. I was especially impressed with how well they did with one of my dogs who is usually very afraid of people.

I've been taking my cat and dogs to Ellsworth Family Veterinary Clinic since they opened and trust them completely. I appreciate their love of animals and the compassion and empathy they all have for us. Dr. Jones is knowledgeable and experienced and takes as much time as needed to give her patients appropriate and thorough care. I'm happy to recommend her and her team to others.

Jessica and Dr Jones are amazing! Super gentle and caring with my pup and they both do an amazing job at explaining everything so that it's easy to understand what's going on. 10/10 highly recommend

My wife filled out a new patient form back in June to get our dog seen. Still haven’t heard back. I did the same back in August. Nothing. Not allowed to make an appointment until you fill the form out and they call you. So I guess they don’t have room for customers, but when I call, they don’t just say that, they tell me to fill out an application.

My 14 year old kitty was at the end stage of his life, in severe pain and distress. My Veterinarian, 15+yrs client, could not euthanize my kitty with me there for a week, but I could drop him off and they could euthanize him that day without me. I called Ellsworth Family Veterinary and explained my situation, they made time within 2 hrs for my kitty to be euthanized with me there. All of the staff were so compassionate and put the needs and comfort of my kitty and me first. I was not a client and they had no guarantee I would become a client or if they would see after I picked up my kitty's ashes. None of that mattered, they emphasized instantly with my kitty's pain and need to be free of that as well as my need to be with him. I highly recommend this practice.

A lifelong dog person (and I am no spring chicken), I have never encountered such a caring, thoughtful, and ultra competent veterinary practice. If you've ever read or watched "All Creatures Great and Small," this practice channels the vibe of a family. The spacious examination rooms, in a beautiful old home, puts your animal at ease. Unlike any vet office that I've been in before, it smells fresh and clean, and does not reek of a "clinical" environment that stresses out not only your pet, but you, and most likely the doctor herself. From Jim at the front desk, to Dr. Jones, and everyone in between who keep this extraordinary practice ticking, I feel that Lucky is lucky to be a patient of Ellsworth Family Veterinary.

Hands down the best vet around! Dr. Jones is VERY thorough, and clearly loves the animals she is working with. Masks are still required inside the clinic, which puts my mind at ease with COVID. I won’t be going anywhere else!

Ellsworth Family Vet Clinic came highly recommended when my husband and I got our first dog. Even though it is a farther drive for us than some more local vets, we couldn’t be happier with our choice. Dr. Jones and the whole staff make each vet visit very easy and pleasant. Which is saying something when you have a 140lb Great Dane who’s prone to ear infections. The clinic is always very clean, orderly, and comfortable, and they always manage to get us in promptly when we have unforeseen issues come up.Dr. Jones is knowledgeable and professional. Her care and devotion for the well-being of her patients is evident and we trust her completely to always recommend only the best for our giant fur baby. We will be bringing our pets to this vet clinic for years to come!

There are positives and negatives with this practice. Dr. Jones has been great at times like when my dog swallowed something potentially toxic. Dr. Jones would induce vomiting if needed. Dr. Jones told me that my dog could NOT have a dental because she had developed a grade 1-2 heart murmur. I know now that this is absolutely NOT true. Dogs with heart murmurs do get dentals. Dr. Jones NEVER mentioned a veterinary dental specialist as a potential option. Eight months later my dog was diagnosed with kidney disease. What Dr. Jones probably should have said is that she didn't feel comfortable doing the dental. I did quite extensive research and found out about veterinary dental specialists on my own. I had no idea that not getting a dental could lead to kidney disease. After the kidney disease diagnosis, the treatment "plan" was to start feeding my dog a prescription kidney food diet and return for testing in two to three months. I felt that this was an inadequate treatment "plan." My precious dog had been on a different kind of prescription diet (for digestive issues) for two years and Dr. Jones commented that she didn't think my dog would handle the kidney diet food well because of digestive issues. So what were the options for feeding my dog? I had to find them myself. First, I discovered that dogs with kidney disease often need meds for nausea and acid reflux or they may not eat anything at all. I discovered that there are certified veterinary nutritionists that will offer proper nutritional home cooked food recipes for dogs with kidney disease or other health problems. Because I felt the treatment "plan" was inadequate, I took my dog to another vet who prescribed meds for acid reflux and nausea so my dog would eat and checked my dog's blood pressure and discovered she needed blood pressure medication. Dr. Jones sent records to this particular vet and two others. I also had my dog's blood tested three weeks after the kidney disease diagnosis and found additional medication was needed to combat the progression of the kidney disease. My dog now has a new vet. I think Dr. Jones needs an email list of her clients so she can email them as a group and give them a heads up when she is going to be unavailable and let them know whether or not another vet will be covering for her. More than once Dr. Jones was on vacation on a weekday when my dog needed to see a vet. A couple of times she had another vet cover for her, but not every time. Dr. Jones' office sent my dog's records to three other veterinary offices over a period of a few years because I needed a back up plan when Dr. Jones was unavailable. I hope this review helps other pets and petparents with valuable information about dental cleanings, kidney disease, heart disease, and veterinary specialists. While researching I also discovered veterinary cardiologists, internal medicine specialists, and veterinary eye specialists. There could be other types of veterinary specialists. There is a wealth of information online. I wish I had discovered it sooner.

Always made my girl feel right at home, she actually enjoys the vet which I’ve never seen before. She’s a rescue so she’s particular about some people and other animals but they make sure everything is just right for her. She always walks in wagging her tail like crazy. Super nice staff, saved my little pup many times
