On March3,2024 I gave my notice to vacate my unit stating I’d be out before May 12. I was charged on May 12th for a unit I have been out of and gave ample notice. Called twice and was told the manager would call me back. Still no phone call back.

I gave 30-days’ notice of my intention to vacate my unit by today, 4/14/25. My storage unit has been cleaned out, unlocked, and swept, but I was still charged today. I called at 7:30 this morning and was told by the associate who took my call that she could see my intent to close my account in my call notes. She said a manager would reach out to me before 5pm. At 8:46:06AM, I received an email (not a phone call) that my payment had been reversed. At 8:46:23AM, I received another email indicating that I have an unpaid balance remaining. I called again, and was told again that a manager would call me. No one has called. I have no idea how long a refund is going to take — I specifically budgeted this month with the knowledge that I would have this money in my account. I chose to deal with a local company because I expected a higher standard of customer service and care. Unfortunately, I’ve had better experiences with larger companies like U-Haul and LifeStorage. It’s frustrating that Freeport Self Storage made the mistake, and I’m (literally) paying for it.
*Amending my original review to include the fact that Susan (the owner of Freeport Self Storage) did call me personally and explain the breakdown in communication that happened with her team. We had a very pleasant conversation and I feel the issue has been resolved. I appreciated her personal dedication to my situation.

Price for a 10x10 was $100. After 8 months or so they raised our price by 25% to $125. We get a non heated, no electricity, no light unit and they raised the price that much? What on earth. God anywhere else honestly.
They lowered the price of this unit some, and now have called it an error. This is not an error it is deliberate. My one star review is staying as such.
I'm unable to respond to what the owner said other than here. So I will. I'm sorry if it was a genuine mistake. But it genuinely feels as though it's a mistake only once you get called out on it. I understand this is a smaller storage place. And I no longer have a storage unit here. But it is frustrating to see a business that has a rather low overhead cost charge so much and raise prices higher. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the prices of taxes and maybe some loans you have for the business are expensive. But a storage facility where all you need are some incredibly basic buildings and land and some security cameras? I don't believe it to be expensive.
I'm sorry for leaving a bad review. But I feel as though I had a bad experience here. I can't change that. And because of that, I can't change my review. I just hope it means that some change gets made to where you verify prices before they get raised. Our price shouldn't have been raised as much as it was. Let alone for his short we had the unit. Not even a year and getting a price increase that is higher than the yearly price increase of my apartment. It blew my mind.

Rude. Use to be owned by a family a believe and was much better to deal with then what they have or lack of running the place. Tons of options with storage try somewhere else. If you want mildew mold, rat droppings, dust, and lack of care of your belongings come here...

I paid for this storage unit on time for YEARS and needed absolutely nothing from them. During that time my price went up twice. It is very difficult to reach a human being. The whole business is automated and won’t even let you reply to their e-mails. If you call, you will not speak to a human being in the state of Maine, only the answering service. I’m fine with that, but others may not be. I love dogs so I didn’t mind at all, but If you are at all afraid of dogs, DO NOT get a unit here! A loose dog WILL run up and bark at you. There was a dead mouse in my unit which I cleaned up and didn’t even mention, yet when I gave 15 days notice and a good review, I was still charged a random $25 fee after being a loyal customer for many years and giving plenty of notice. The e-mail I received when I question the fee was pretty rude and snarky. On an earlier occasion, I was double charged and had to point it out and then wait a long time for a refund. I will say that this storage unit was temperature controlled and fit my needs. The customer service is lacking.

Talk about "intrusive" -this company, for just a quote needed ;my phone #last namee'mail address ,,,,Just for a price quote ;GET WITH THE PROGRAM ,,, TO A COMPLETE STRANGER , THIS COMPANY WAS WAY OUT OF LINE ASKING FOR MY PERSONAL INFORMATION , LIKE IT WAS COMMON PRACTICE .... THEY R DEFINITELY OFF MY LIST FOR STORAGE , AND I M SURE MY FRIENDS WILL FEEL THE SAME WAY - THE BLATANT NERVE TO UNWAVERINGLY ASK WITHOUT ANY RESERVATIONS OR WITHOUT EVEN ASKING FOR PERMISSION TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE OR IF I WOULDN'T MIND !!!AS IF !!!!!!!???

Susan provided wonderful service from beginning to end. The facility is excellent. Very secure, very clean and well lit. There were a wide variety of size units to choose from. Definitely recommend contacting Freeport Storage first.

This was a quick and easy rental I was able to facilitate on a Sunday online and by the end of that day all of my things were stored securely. The unit was clean and my items were never damaged by the elements in this climate controlled unit during the 12 weeks of summer. Susan is an excellent communicator and always responded promptly. The property is safe and clean and I highly recommend this facility for storing your property.

Removed my camper from storage in August. My camper sat in the grass on the edge of their driveway, next to the house. I had to call them to get the gate open to remove my camper. They are aware my camper is no longer in storage in their facility. September 15th I get a notification that they are charging my card for storage. I contacted them asking why I'm being charged for storage when my camper is not at their storage facility, and hasn't been for a month. The answer, I didn't inform them I was not storing my camper there anymore. They refuse to refund the charge.Unethical, no integrity. If this is the way they take care of customers, steer clear.

Gate is finiky. Does not always open, which can really ruin your plans. Takes hours to get someone out. The phone number takes you to generic U-haul call centers. This is not an ideal situation, but the price is unbeatable.
