We lost our pets in a house fire and my brother in law brought them down there to be cremated. They would not put our last names on the paperwork and had to use his instead. If he was having it done for us why couldn't they just put the name on it. We had a lot of other stuff to deal with also so we couldn't go down and have it done ourselves. No respect for the family members that went through this. Don't have a family member bring your animal here for cremation. They won't respect your wishes and will just do it how they want to. Paid a lot for it also to have someone else's name on it.

Second time calling to see if they could find an appt ( they are listed as a hospital) first time I was told to go a clinic in portland, second time I was told to call gray animal vet to see if they could do blood work. I told her I don't think so that was my first choice before here which they were not taking anyone I tried for a year . So I asked should I look for a new vet. I was told basically bring her to my old vet . Which I had to the first time they couldn't see her . Guess what I got in . My old vet has always squeezed us in . You guys should have a certain number of sick call appts . If you do you pick and choose who gets them .

They never ever rush my dogs exams. They always listen and make my dogs and myself feel like we’re their only patients! Even if they only see us once a year! I would highly recommend this vet to anyone.

Waited awhile for my appointment, finally appointment day may 17, they called to cancel due to emergency...I called to reschedule asap...soonest is June 7th, I asked for sooner. They had none. I said ears are now bothering him I need to get in sooner, no appointments, and my appointment was only for vaccines I would have to make another appointment for that, or I can take my dog to emergency vet for his ears...so no concern for my dog ...time for a different vet, someone who actually wants to help animals not just make money.

As ALWAYS, the staff was fabulous! We have a "difficult" patient and everyone at GNGAH worked with him and made the entire visit painless and stress-free.

I took my dog here for an urgent visit in October 2022 because she had a fever. They diagnosed her with a "tick borne disease" gave me 7 days of antibiotics and said "She's probably just one of those dogs who gets melodramatic when she has a fever." The office visit was over $500. This Sunday January 22, 2023 my dog died from an aggressive osteosarcoma in her skull diagnosed by Yarmouth Vet Clinic. The fever she had in October was due to inflammation in her skull. For at least 2 months after Gray New Gloucester saw her my dog lived with a lot of pain that could have been avoided had this clinic taken their time to do a thorough examination. The tumor was visible in the hard palate at the back of her mouth. At least put in $500 worth of effort. I will not bring any of my animals here again.

There's really no other place I'd recommend to take your pet! They've always been wonderful and caring!! We've never had anything but a good experience at G-NG!!Edit Note: Apologies as I had mistaken this vet for a different one where I didn't have a good experience. I feel awful for the mix up but now I have corrected the mistake.

Protect your pets and seek treatment elsewhere! My sweet dog suffered at the hands of Dr. Carol Grey. He is still recovering from subsequent treatment elsewhere. A lower canine extraction can be difficult but Dr. Grey went above and beyond to BOTCH this procedure. She broke off the crown of the tooth and left an extremely large, sharp tooth root. What confuses me is that Dr. Grey had the post op X-ray, it was obvious what was in the socket, but it was just left there to rot and cause pain. You should be ashamed of yourself, Dr. Grey. Dr. Matzkin, did you review the post-op radiograph prior to our recheck appointment where you told me everything was fine and no further treatment was necessary? How does anyone miss a retained tooth root this large. You knew it was there and you were going to leave it which is unheard of from a clinical standpoint!! You don’t need to specialize in veterinary dentistry to know that a tooth root of that size should never be left in place! You massacred his poor tooth, broke off the crown and left the entire root! Thank goodness that I had the wherewithal to push for follow up care when I realized my dog was not himself and was not healing as he should have. Full disclosure: GNGAH covered the cost of my dog’s treatment at another hospital with more of a specialty in dentistry. HOWEVER, that was only after I voiced massive concerns and lots of back and forth phone calls. Initially, they REFUSED! It wasn’t until I threatened a veterinary board complaint that they chose to do the right thing. Again, a veterinarian does not need to have any sort of special interest in dentistry to know that it is incredibly wrong to leave that in a patient’s mouth!!! A regular person would know that a large broken tooth needs to be extracted! How would you like to live with a broken, sharp tooth with exposed nerve in your mouth, Dr Grey? If Dr Grey did not feel confident in doing the procedure herself, she had a moral and ethical (maybe even legal) obligation to tell me the tooth root was there and needed to be addressed. The same goes for Dr Matzkin who saw my dog two weeks later for a recheck. Why bother having rechecks if you don’t review the post op X-rays before the appointment? It sickens me that my dog has gone through all of this pain. It sickens me that GNGAH would have let him live like that! If I didn’t advocate for my dog, he would be living in chronic pain with constant a risk of infection and ongoing problems. Please notice the photo I’ve highlighted and shared from the Veterinary Information Network, or VIN. This is a reliable resource veterinarians use very often. Thank you to Breena for being a lovely human being.
