West Hampden Baptist is my church and has been for over 18 years. I love the church and have much admiration for the children's programs and directors. My 4 children, ages 13 to 23, are all living respectable and fulfilling lives that bring my wife and me much delight, and the church programs and leadership helped to make that happen. The negative review of the pastor is one that I disagree with wholeheartedly. Oddly enough, the negative reviewer gave a glowing recommendation that WHBC hire Pastor Lynn when it was his job, with a few others, to find a pastor that was a good fit. The search process was extensive and exhaustive, and they did a great job. Pastor Lynn and our negative reviewer share an alma mater, so his knowledge of our pastor's education should have been very familiar. The young people uplift each other and are such a blessing to the whole church. The unity and absence of cliques is a delight. If you are one seeking a church in the Bangor/Hampden area, please consider visiting to see for yourself the spirit of our church. I think you'll agree!

Under the current pastor this church has strayed far from the truth of the Bible and follow the gospel of Lynn. The pastor has a cult style of leadership excluding those that have disagreement with him and breaking up families to accomplish his goals. This church feels that they have a right to control children and disparage the parents if a parent disagrees with the church. This is NOT a place to send children as this "church" under the current pastor clearly meets the definition of a cult based on all current accepted evidence and literature. Lies and deceit are espoused to further pull the wool over the eyes of the congregation so they don't see the real "man behind the curtain". This church follows the teachings of Mike Lynn and not those of God. Beware and stay away of you don't want your children deceived and destroyed by this church.I regret ever bringing my children through the doors of this institution! Mike Lynn feels that he has more authority over my children thanI do and degrades me to my children because we have a fundamental disagreement. I believe in the authity of Scripture and follow what the Bible says, and Mike believes in his own private interpretation and pills the wool over the eyes of the congregation with his slick speech and masterful manipulation. In reality he is just there for his paycheck and retirement. If the people in this congregation would actually question what he tells them (that is frowned upon strongly as one "cannot question the pastor he is God's annointed". This is a cult disguised as a Baptist church. The church members have even been encouraged to put up positive reviews to try to bury my honest review of this institution. Notice the blank recent reviews, especially by the pastor's own son Stephen Lynn. This cult has even provided my son with a "surrogate father" to go to a Father-son activity "because his father is no longer involved in his life". However, his father is VERY MUCH involved in his life. It is just that the cukt would desire to exclude me from my own children's lives. And will resort to telling lies to do so!The review by David Frost is currently using images stolen from me by the church and reposted by David without my permission. That is hardly a Christian thing to do!If you want to attend a church the holds fast to the truth of God's Word, there are plenty of churches in the Bangor area to attend, but this is NOT one of them!! If you want a church with a snake oil salesmen as the pastor and a group of deceivers for the "leadership" who don't care what the Scripture says and will stop to any low to cover for their pastor and a church that will encourage abuse and destroy families and children, this is your place to worship!!The review by Mark Frost is an interesting one! Mike and I share the same undergraduate Alma mater (my advanced degree was from a.different institution) and that college would be appalled with the perversion of Scripture that Mike preaches. Further, as I mentioned above the recommendation of Mike at the time of his hiring was based on what turned out to be materially false information presented by Mike and not checked out by the individual that was supposed to do som. Mike is a fraud, and Mark Frost is not only a liar but has slandered me in the community and to my children with false information presented to him by Mike Lynn. Mark has drunk the Kool aid given to him by Mike and defends Mike even when that defense makes no logical sense. Mark has misrepresented me in his review. I stand by my comments! Mike is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He came in as most people of his ilk do, with a smooth story and reasons for his many past churches. However a retired assistant fire chief failed to do the background checking that was promised and the truth was not discovered. Mike's apostacy became more and more apparent the longer he was at West Hampden until things hit a head. Mark is a deceived individual who sadly cannot t

It's rare to find a pastor and church family that is not only warm and welcoming, but also very Godly. The young people especially are some of the most godly I have know. They have such a heart to please God. Pastor Lynn and his wife are very hospitable, and I appreciate his stand on teaching the Bible without fear of men but rather a respectful fear of God. He walks with God. Thank you so much!
