My car broke down and I was trying to figure out what to do next. I was hopeful that I could get a new to me car, but it's just not the right timing. Tony Murray at Fairway Auto went way above and beyond anything I ever could have expected to help point me in the right direction and get my car fixed. When I am in the market for a used car, I will not hesitate to reach out again to him and his team.

Upon entering their office, Tony & his wife were very nice, but that's where the good experience ended. I ended up purchasing a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek from Tony, and paid over the current KBB for it. The car market is crazy as of recent, so I accepted my fate on the pricing. What's not understandable, and moreso unacceptable, is upon bringing the vehicle to the mechanic for work after noticing some issues with it, I learned there were a few extremely expensive repairs that needed to be done on the vehicle. Some of the parts that needed replaced: AC condenser, cabin filter, clearance lights, engine air filter, wheel bearings, sway bar, ball joints, control arm bushing, and the heat shield. These issues have cost me thousands of dollars to replace, and the dealership told me these issues had been developed for a long time, much longer than I have had the car for and they should have been easily spotted if the car was checked over. Tony initially let me test drive the car before it went to the mechanic, and there were some apparent issues but Tony assured me they would be fixed. He pressured me into signing the paper work ASAP as cars were selling fast, so I did. I trusted Tony to fix up the car for me that he sold me at a premium price, but in the end I'm left looking like a fool. I'll be buying from the dealership in the future.

I wanted to first state that Tony’s Fairway auto sales was able to quickly get us into a vehicle and made the paper work effortless. However, we are not satisfied months later. We purchased a 2022 KIA Sorrento on March 31,2022. We drove the car off the lot not realizing there was a hole under the passenger side door covered with black electrical tape…. We called, and they resolved the issue by replacing it with a new piece of plastic. Also stating they knew about it. Okay that’s a little sketchy, but we get it and we didn’t make a big deal out of it. More or less we were disappointed that was not brought to our attention. Weeks later, oil is leaking under the car. We call and are told “did you look in owners manual, basically you need to call KIA. Okay, so we wait a month to get an appointment at KIA while driving around with oil leaking not knowing if something was wrong with motor or what. We spend the day in Bangor to get the car looked at to find out oil filter was cracked. Fairway Auto Sales did cover the cost of the oil change. I felt as though that’s all it was? Then why couldn’t they just have looked at the car and saved us the time and money and changed the filter and oil? I still had to pay for the labor to have the car diagnostics done… . I didn’t make a big deal out of it because mistakes happen… we get that. We were told the mechanic that changed the oil didn’t realize it was cracked. Now 10,000 miles later I’m stuck on the side of the road with a car that’s not starting. We purchased this car almost new in hopes it would be a nice reliable family car. So we have it towed to the nearest auto body and have the fuels injectors replaced, spark plugs, and coil packs replaced. So I called and spoke with Tony because we purchased extra coverage hoping that if anything major did happen we would be covered. Finding out now you need to put a claim in before you get it towed and repaired. We were never told that, it’s also not stated in the contract. We were told if we needed brakes done, ect it was covered under the extra warranty we purchased.I’m writing this review in hopes to just make people aware. Make sure you ask ALL the questions, and put the car on the lift before you buy. I would think most of these issues could have been avoided when we purchased the car.We feel like we are being left to figure this out on our own and to pay for it… what the heck. Why did we spend the extra money to be told “oh, well you are suppose to file a claim first then get it repaired”. Sorry nothing we can do. That was not the first thought that comes to my head when left stranded on the side of the road. If I had been told I surely would have done that.Very nice people and they were easy to deal with, but definitely not the package deal we were hoping for.I hope you have better luck than we did.This was not to talk bad about fairway auto sales, just simply sharing our experience in hopes you don’t find yourself in the same unfortunate situation as us.

UPDATE: Now that my entire process has concluded and I've made my first car payment, I wanted to finish my review. Corey was an absolute pleasure to work with, from beginning to end. Because we purchased over the weekend, my purchase had to be completed on Monday when the banks opened. Corey had to make several "promises" as to how we could get this done because I had to work Monday and my work location was a good hour from their dealership. He explained they would handle all of the paperwork, get the vehicle detailed, deliver it to me at work with my paperwork to sign and he would drive my trade-in away. Sorry, but I had zero confidence it would go down this way due to past experiences when purchasing elsewhere. Well, come Monday, that is EXACTLY what happened. He even took my plates off my old car for me. I've just never received this level of service from any business, let alone a car dealership. There should be no other option when purchasing a vehicle or you're just cheating yourself out of actually enjoying buying your new ride. I had THE BEST time. Thank you Corey and Fairway!!ORIGINAL POST: This small, family-owned company was such a pleasant surprise. They have more SUVs in their inventory than any large dealership in Bangor, Belfast and Ellsworth. Not a lemon on the lot. All are quality, well cared for vehicles at very reasonable prices. I was in and out in approximately an hour, including my test drive, and they are going to deliver my new vehicle to my workplace on Monday after they finish the detail. When they do, they will take my old car away as my trade-in. I've been dreading buying a new vehicle and have put it off for months because I cannot suffer a salesman. Not politely, anyway. I've walked out of more dealerships over the years than I can count. I actually enjoyed buying a vehicle for the first time in my life. I truly had a great time and left smiling. Fairway is on its own level when helping someone purchase their new vehicle.

We purchased our son a car from Fairway Auto sales in August of 2023. We had a few concerns with car after we bought it and he had us bring it in to have his mechanic look at it. He treated us very good during the whole process and even covered the cost of things that were not under warranty and then he offered to drop off our car in Bangor, so we did not have to make the trip to Ellsworth. If you are looking for a used car, I would recommend Fairway Auto Sales. We will definately be back in 3 years when we are looking for our daughter.

Tony and Nicole are amazing people! You get quality cars and trucks here at a great price, I felt like family when I was there. My family now will go to Fairway now for all our auto sales. There are no words to explain how quick and easy the process of buying a car is from Tony and his crew! From the beginning of the application to driving off the lot was less than 24 hours. Nicole and Tony made the financing and paperwork process so easy. The car was driven before hand by Corey to just make sure it was all ok and he noticed something wrong so he bought the part and fixed it before I picked it up. There is no other place I will do business with. Customer for life!

Fairway auto sales are in a class above all. Tony Murray is the most honest and honorable men anyone could meet. I bought a Toyota Tundra from Tony and shortly after relocated to Florida, after relocating I encountered a slight tick in the engine and had a mechanic look at it and found that it needed a timing chain. Tony helped me cover the cost of replacement, mind you I had, had the truck for well over the 1000 mile 30 day warranty. There is other company that would have done this and Tony didn’t have to but he did . Many thanks to him and his team .
