My father was briefly in Durgin Pine. They denied him food, medical interventions and a medication that he was physically dependent upon. He went into withdrawals, was screaming in pain and fear, begging me to get him care. A substitute nurse came in, took one look at him, and called an ambulance. He had a blood pressure of 72/52, 2 pulmonary embolisms and double pneumonia. They then refused to take him back, and told him it was because of me and my complaints. He died four days after they did that. They never told the family he couldn’t come back, I went back multiple times to pick up belongings, they lied to my face. The staff then spoke negatively about me to Portsmouth Hospital and made it impossible for us to find hm a rehab facility. Vicki the intake person is responsible for lying to the hospital and hastening his painful, confusing death. They treated him with complete indifference and lied to the family, the hospital and my Dad. I’m hoping the complaint I filed with the State prevents this from happening to any other family. Follow up, the State of Maine has opened an investigation and I am waiting for the final report.

I volunteer at a community kitchen in town alongside Durgin Pines. Their team always has a great attitude, positive work ethic and are committed and flexible when it comes to making sure that we are able to cover the workload and serve the guests.

I have used Durgin Pines Rehabilitation unit 4 times. I have always gotten excellent care there, The staff does a wonderful job including the CNAs who in my opinion are the unsung heroes. They do the most intimate and necessary care and they do it competently and cheerfully every time. The nursing staff and PT& OT are also top notch. I heartily recommend them.

Patients with covid are being intermingled with other patients at mealtimes in the cafeteria. The nursing staff knows full well that they are going against regulations with a covid outbreak conditions.

My mom has been well taken care of at Durgin Pines. It is always clean and well maintained and mom has enjoyed the food and has good interactions with the staff. We are thankful she is there.

Durgin Pines truly feels like a home away from home, the compassionate staff insures that my grandmother receives personalized care and attention she deserves. The environment is clean and inviting with a lot of activities that cater to their interest. It’s reassuring to know that my grandmother is such caring and loving hands. I highly recommend this facility.

I has been two years since we moved my grandmother into Durgin Pines and we have only have positive things to say about her experience there. The nurses and other faculty members are such a pleasure to work with and there are a litany of activities for her to occupy her time.

Terrible liars running this facility! They hide things from the families of the residents. They took residents to Olive Garden. Becca, the driver, slammed on the bteaks of the bus they were in, sending 2 residents flying out of their wheelchairs! They never called an ambulance and made the man that landed on the floor of the bus ride back on the floor!!! I happen to know someone that knows this Becca from the rec. dept. First Becca lied and said it didn't happen. Then she admitted it did happen. Then she told my friend "How would her daughter know (meaning me)? She hasn't been in to see her mother (meaning my mother) for months!" Another lie!!!! The social worker also lied about the incident and told me they had issues with the bus!! I am furious!!! Do NOT bring your elderly family here. They will lie and downplay or deny anything that happens involving your relative.

Durgin Pines planned a bus trip with a half dozen or so residents, including my mother, to Olive Garden in Newington, NH. When I spoke to Shannon, who I believe to be the social worker, I asked about the trip and how it went. She said it was canceled. When I asked why, she said there was an issue with the bus. When I asked what was wrong with the bus she changed it to "There was an issue ON the bus." That's all she would tell me. So a day later I called my mother and asked why the trip was canceled she had a whole different story. She said the girl driving, through no fault of her own, was turning into Olive garden and a car hit the bus. There was a different person supposedly securing the wheelchairs for safety reasons at Durgin Pines before they left. Ha! Well 2 residents were thrown out of their wheel chairs!!! How dare Shannon from Durgin Pines refuse to tell me about the accident when my mother was in the bus!!! My cousin went in to visit my mother and she asked why the trip was canceled and they told her there was something wrong with the bus. So, this is what they are all telling the relatives of the residents!! They have no problem calling me up about money. But lying to me and everyone else about a car accident is atrocious! This administrative staff is horrible. DO NOT bring your loved one's to this facility!

Why would you have a gazebo with steps in a geriatric setting?

This facility ended up being horrible!! My mom went backwards with her condition (dementia). After 6 weeks we had to rescue her. She never showered the entire 6 weeks she was there!!! They told us she didn't want to bc it was so cold. What!?!?! Seriously!!! My mom called several times a day begging to leave. They locked them down in their rooms for 2 weeks for Covid outbreak. Wouldn't even let her outside!!!! It's summertime!!! She lost weight and became overly emotional all day. We saved her! Complete turn around once out of there. Don't bring a loved one here!

In my experience Durgin Pines is a first rate assisted living facility and nursing home. I have visited many facilities in Maine and New Hampshire and find Durgin Pines definitely among the best - if not THE best. With the open, generous layout of the rooms, the beautiful landscaping around the buildingsIn a quiet setting close to restaurants and stores, the inclusion of a daycare center for preschoolers Durgin Pines design and location is first rate. The staff is very friendly ,helpful and trying hard to bring some degree of happiness into the otherwise difficult and often painful lives of the residents. Nobody chooses to leave their home and move into a nursing homethe foodf is quite good most of the time, activities, including visits with the children from the daycare center bring a lot of joy to the patients.

We couldn't be happier with the care my mother has received so far during her rehab. The staff, from the administrators to the care givers, are truly amazing! They are all super friendly, patient, and welcoming to my mother and our family. They take the time to update us on her progress without prompting. They are passionate about the care they provide, and it shows!
