Monica's Chocolates is an unexpected gem and a cool place located on your way to Canada, very much worth the stop. The owner is the sweetest woman, a wonderful and friendly human who works hard every day from April through December. She makes all the chocolate fillings on site using her own recipes, a blend of local and Peruvian flavors, even making her own peanut butter from scratch. The result is a wide variety of delicious chocolate confections you won't find anywhere else, including bonbons, truffles, and chocolate-covered caramel. The caramel is unbelievably rich, creamy, and flavorful. The berry "salsa" and pecan bonbon are highly recommended. These are not regular chocolate bars, so the price is a bit more expensive, but it is the best chocolate. The store also sells beautiful, well-made jewelry and woven things from Peru. The staff is super friendly. There is plenty of parking in a dirt lot, and they accept credit cards.
Loved it, the employees are super helpful. The chocolates are to die for. They are worth every penny.
