Baxter State Park is a beautiful and amazing place, a favorite for hiking in Maine with breathtaking views. The hike up Katahdin is an incredible and challenging experience, requiring preparation and 10-12 hours for the trek, but the views are worth it. The park offers challenging hikes and beautiful views, with much to see and do even without summiting. The rangers are friendly and helpful, doing an amazing job preserving the park. It features beautiful picnic areas next to the stream. Campers should note the clean outhouses, but there is no running water. No pets are allowed.
