“Shaw’s is a sprawling complex designed to meet the needs of those hiking the Appalachian Trail. The hostel is operated by two former thru hikers who still long distance hike in the off-season - they know their business. This place features nice rooms, bunks, great hang out places (inside or outside by the fire), laundry, tenting and a famous breakfast. In addition this place probably has one of the best resupply points on the AT. They also hold the keys to the 100 Mile Wilderness - they can slack you through the whole thing, drop food to you at multiple locations, and or provide valuable information on how to make this portion of the trail a bit more manageable, memorable, and even fun. This place is an oasis - ignore it at your own peril.”
